Travel nightmare after travel nightmare

By Adam Abramson

On my flight back tonight we're cruising at 17,000 feet. All of a sudden the plane is being thrown around like a rag doll. Air Traffic Control didn't tell our pilots a plane would be passing us by...well, one did and I'll just say jet wake is powerful. Scary.

This caps off a weekend of air travel nightmares I won't bore you with.

Bottom line is I'm a little rattled and tired. A few points before I crash and I'll hit you with a full post when I get up.

  • I thought it was going to be a good day after watching Illinois beat Wisconsin. I thought my picks were going to be spot on. I was fired up. Well, that clearly wasn't the case. However, I'm on the Illinois bandwagon. How fun would it be to see that group in the BCS???

  • USC lost to Stanford?? Let me sleep on this before commenting.

  • Despite its win, Virginia Tech still has major flaws on offense. But it looks like there will be a Thursday night showdown between a Top 5 BC team and a No. 11-12 VT team on Oct. 25.

  • Kansas is better than I thought. Tennessee finally ran the ball like I knew they could. Ohio State is the class of the Big 10. Karl Dorrell should be fired. Rutgers is reeling, big time.

I'll be back to talk more.

While I realize it's going to be LSU/Ohio State in the national championship, I must say I would just love a BCS filled with USF, KU, Illinois and, let's say, Hawaii.

Adam,

Stanford??? You have to be kidding me? I don't hear any celebrating from the PAC-10 crowd this week. Last week they couldn't contain themselves with all their glee over the upsets of top ranked east coast teams.

You're getting all worked up over BC and VT? Whoa. First BC has to get past ND. That might not be as easy as it would have seemed a few weeks ago.

B&G,

I made the comments Saturday night or Sunday morning. I made it on one of the posts, just not sure which one, but I came here and posted within 24 hours. And I always celebrate ASU wins.

Paul,point made.

The PAC-10 isn't immune to the upset bug this year.

ASU should be interesting. With all of the attrition they might be a surprise.

BNG,

They are already a surprise to me. What I would like is a few years of sustained improvement. I don't expect a USC situation, but I do not think it is too much to ask for a team that competes for a conference championship more than once a decoade.
