A couple of things
First, once again, sorry about the problem with the live chat this morning. I'm told the hamster is back on the wheel and we should be able to have one Friday morning at 11.
But more important to you at the moment, the Jets made a couple of roster moves just now, placing Erik Ainge and Jesse Chatman on the injured reserve list. Chatman, as you know, suffered a knee injury Sunday that Eric Mangini said on Monday was likely to be season-ending. As for Ainge, that pinky he had surgery on after the rookie minicamp must have flared up again. The players' respective replacements have not been announced.

Erik,
Finally they did the right thing with Ainge. Besides bringing in another RB [Musa Smith?] they will bring in a TE {Posiack or Ryan} and an ILB. I think Harris could be out for awhile and they have no depth at ILB. Maybe we see the return of Victor Hobson.
I'm really curious now about the IR rules. I know players on IR aren't allowed to practice with the team, but other than that, do you have to prove that the player is hurt? Are the Jets claiming that Ainge hurt himself in practice?
It's Tuesday, Ira, and i'm hopping aboard your Buffalo bandwagon.
I think i'm going to blindly drink some of that green kool-aid and root for those sunsabastiches on Sunday. Life is too short to hate the ones you love. Go Jets!
ITs just plain scary that the number one pick TE is not deemed worthy to be on the field in game seven when the two vets at the position are hurt. What happened to the "he is a three down TE" post draft spin?
Good to see it they finally figured out that keeping four active QB's is not worth losing football games over. Believe Pociask was the victim in the keep Ainge crime, almost cost them the game this week.
IRA, hope they can find an ILB better than Hobson. What happened to that Kenwin Balmer (name?) guy that made all those plays in preseason?
Oh, and considering he is the sixth overall pick in the draft, could Gholston not be relied on for some reps this week at OLB, freeing BT or Pace to move inside for a few plays, or is he still too green at this early stage of his career to merit some serious reps?
What a great draft, I tell ya..
And Chad throws for more yardage in one game vs. BUF than he did in two games combined for the Jets last year.
If this is not proof that "It's the coaching, stupid", don't know what is.
On Chad: its great that he is doing well in miami, but one of the reasons he's been so successful on top of this wildcat formation, is that the offense seems to try to get the ball to their TE's! What a surprise, wish our coaches would do the same.
Oh wait, our offense cant do that because if we dont have a TE in blocking, Favre gets sacked cause our very expensive O-line has been underperforming.
Can we run some play action passes for the TE in the Red Zone and inside the 10!
It all starts at the top folks....and our top is rotten.
Erik,
Can you ask Mangini why they were using a guard at tight end when the fourth tight end on the roster was available? Of course I'm talking about James Dearth.
4 and 3...Very much in the playoff hunt approaching the half way point of the season. Take a good look at the teams in the AFC. A lot of teams at .500 or below. The Jets need to beat a few of the elite teams (two of which play in our division-Bills and Pats) to show they belong. Very exciting I'd say...or do I have to remind anyone about last year?
The no running because our Tight End is hurt excuse was about the dumbest thing I've heard! First off we have four of them. Second, even if all of them were hurt and you had to use a lineman in his place wouldn't that make you a better running team? Last time I took of my shoes and counted that hi...Six lineman was better than five lineman and a tight end when it comes to running the ball! They don't bring in wide receivers and tight ends on goal line do they!!!!
I am not impressed.
While we are 4-3 and in the hunt, look who we've beat, and look who we've lost to. Win at Miami, but only b/c CP marches down the field and has to force one in with time ticking down (Miami playing pretty well, no?). Loss to a Brady-less Pats team (maybe they still had the "emotion" thing going for them?). Blown out by San Diego (Favre's still learning the offense). Blow out of AZ (everything starting to click...?). Beat Cincy (that Ryan Fitzpatrick is going to be good someday). Loss to Oak (they WERE in the Super Bowl 10 years ago...), and now a squeaker to the worst team in the league.
Great.
The Arizona game is beginning to look like an aberration here.
At the beginning of the season, I had us at 5 and 2 at this point, with losses to NE and SD. I also had us pegged at 12-4 for the season. Win the games you should. Playing like we did against Oakland, KC, and Cincy ain't going to cut it.
Wayne,
Good point that was Kenwin Cummings and yes he should be given a chance at ILB. He played very well all summer but that was against the 3rd stringers. But he did show promise and should be given a chance. He showed more then Gholston has so far. Murrell also needs to get some playing time. they haven't even made him actice for a few weeks already. This defense needs a boost so why not? GO JETS!!!!
I agree with most of the posts above - I see a TE (Pociask?) and an ILB (Cummings? Trusnik?) being added to the 53 due to the injuries to Baker, Franks and Harris.
Adding another RB would be nice too, but we don't have enough roster spots right now and ILB and TE are bigger needs right now. Once Nugent is healthy (if that ever happens) or is finally IRed, then maybe the Jets can add another RB or elevate Jehuu Caulcrick from the PS.
