The reason I hate Eric Allen, the senior managing editor and excellent writer for newyorkjets.com, is because of stories like this one: the exclusive sit-down he had with Jenn Sterger, "a southern girl with flair," Allen wrote, whom the Jets officially hired yesterday as their new gameday host.
The photo credit goes to George Salmon Photography and I won't just give George credit here, I'll give him thanks, too.
And speaking of credit, I can't even take that at Newsday for posting something on this first because our sports media columnist, Neil Best, had it on his blog late yesterday afternoon, mere minutes after, and maybe even before, it appeared on newyorkjets.com. Best is the king for a reason.
Anyway, in Allen's story - worth checking out alone for the 19-slide pictorial accompanying it - Sterger says, "“It will be fun. It’s going to be sassy. I plan on fully embracing my new role as a New Yorker.”
A brief interlude: it's an off day and there will be plenty of time, maybe even later today, to talk about Brett Ratliff vs. Kellen Clemens, Favre's frozen ropes and the light-on-his-feet Kris Jenkins. Besides, I know original blog reader Roger is captivated by this. As am I. As is Brian Bassett of thejetsblog.com, a bleeds-jets-football-24/7 kind of guy who wrote yesterday of Sterger: "Best. Hiring. Ever." Complete with a big glossy picture.
That's just the kind of frat-boy gawking we simply don't tolerate here.
But did you know Sterger has her own Web site, complete with her own blog??? I didn't, only discovering that while researching this newest Jets hire. I Google every new Jets hire and I can say Googling Sterger was a markedly different experience than when Mike Tannenbaum brought assistant GM Scott Cohen on board.
It's all a bit depressing. Reading Sterger's blog I see she's a better writer than I am. Then I read in Allen's column that Sterger majored in criminology and psychology at Florida State. So she's smarter, too.
Sterger debuts in her new role this Saturday night at the Meadowlands when the Jets host the Redskins. That's all I got.

Seeing as how none of us have media access to the team like you do, we deem it your responsibility to get her phone number for "investigative" purposes. You don't have to share it with us, but we'll be highly disappointed in your "journalistic" abilities if you don't.
Cheer up. Boland. After all, who writes better rhetorical letters on behalf of Woody Johnson than you do? And I am almost certain that your googling skills, honed during hours and hours of exhaustive "research", put hers to shame. She has nothing on you, all physical and mental assets aside.
Oh, and as an addendum to JetsFanDan's observation, I am wondering if said one-on-one interview won't be conducted on the aforementioned world's most famous futon. Figures to be a revealing interview, to be sure.

As a fellow journalist, Erik is doing very well both with this column and from his daily writing for the paper. This is a blog, meant for informal conversation. Loosen up 10, it's a photo (press photo, mind you) of a new Jets hire. It just so happens that she's pretty.
Erik's headline is actually really brilliant. Sometimes simplicity is all you need. Headlines are supposed to be catchy, after all.

Giants', Jets' New Jersey Stadium Landlord Cuts Party Hours
New York Giants and Jets fans will have two fewer hours to tailgate under new alcohol and behavior rules at New Jersey's Meadowlands Sports Complex.
The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority's new policy reduces parking lot access at Giants Stadium, the Izod Arena and the Meadowlands Racetrack to five hours before an event from seven hours. The authority also took steps to prevent female fans from being harassed.
The changes comes in response to a new National Football League fan conduct code, which bans drunkenness and unruly behavior, said authority spokesman John Samerjan. The league also invited teams to create their own policies.

The Brett Favre trade didn't make us a super bowl team, but i think this move does. Surely the football gods will shine good fortune upon us now.
Woody may not be a perfect owner, but you got to hand it to him - moves like this make it more pleasant to be a jets fan every day.
I agree with you 10. At the very least, all I've asked for in the past is equal time...If you're gonna post the sexy "chicks", then I want some beefcake posted as well. (and no, posting an ordinary football player's picture is not the same...you know the difference!) If I had a link to a photo, I'd include it, but I just don't spend my days looking for that kind of info.

You're doing a great job here on the blog, but you lower the professionalism of what you're doing by including this stuff. It's fun, the comments it elicits are fun to read, but it's not very professional. We female readers should be just as important, just don't forget us is all I'm asking for.
I'm just glad to see I'm not the only female reader of this blog...I was starting to wonder if you chased them all away with the Jet cheerleader pics!

That is a press photo. If you want pictures of men, find their press photos. The woman is portraying herself in this fashion. All Erik is doing is posting a picture and commenting on her hiring. Same thing with the Flight Crew, that is the job they are going for and they pose for the pictures. It's not like Erik was sneaking around the locker room with a camera and posted those photos.
It is a close second to the random, and brilliant, Farve/Lohan speculation found in another football blog.
