A riveting debate
It's not exactly what you'll see/hear from Obama vs. McCain, but the guys - Anthony Rieber and Jim Baumbach - on The Final Score blog have posted a debate about the impact Favre will have on the Jets this season. I provided the link because Rieber, one of our baseball scribes, tolerated football for a day out here Saturday and he asked nicely. Their debate has it all, except facts, entertainment or insight. (hey, Glauber gets treated the same here. And myself, for that matter). But I encourage you to check it out, though ignore the enormous closeup picture of my head that's on their blog. Sheeeesh. My forehead, and nose, just protrude off the screen.
And now, out to practice, which was delayed to a 1:45 p.m. start.

Will62, very good point about Ratcliff, if they never made the trade he would have gotten very little time until Week 4.
Worst case, Favre gets hurt, JEts lose a 4th rounder, and Jets get a good look at Clemens.
Best case, he stays healthy and leads them to the Super Bowl.
Either scenario is better than watching Chad dink and dunk them to 8-10 wins and first round playoff loss as the upside.
Erik - Did you read Rieber's entry where he ripped Mangini for his now famous "Brett's Breakfast" joke? Rieber said, "Mangini's attitude is an insult to Jets fans......." Maybe I missed something when watching the press conference, but I didn't note any attitude. It didn't seem to me like any of the media in attendance took umbrage, either. Am I wrong?
Marty, it sounded to me like he was poking fun at the media, not the fans.
Erik
Do you know what date camp closes to the public? I'd like to take my 5 year old son one more time before they leave Long Island. By the way, he's very loyal to Chad (has his jersey and autograph) so it's going to take some time for him to warm up to Favre.
Andy,
I believe camp is closed to the public tomorrow (Tuesday). Two open practices on Wednesday, one on Thursday, closed on Friday. Enjoy yourself.
Thanks, but I meant closed for good. I know it's coming up, I just didn't know which week it was.
Mangini, in that "breakfast" answer, was 100 percent poking fun at the media. As he should have. And the media in the room took it as it was intended and laughed.
Andy, that date is not set yet but it's typically after the third exhibition game, so I would try to get out here before the Aug. 23 game against the Giants
Erik,
just so you know I'm equal-opportunity, I got Kellen Clemens running his lap today at practice and it's on youtube also. Plus I'm going to put a few more videos up there.
Can you believe the Brett Favre one almost has 200,000 views now?????
Equal-opportunity? KC and BF are white...racist punk.
Sorry if I didn't make myself clear, but I though Rieber was off base. My take on Mangini was the same as John Z. & Erik.
Andy
When training camp breaks this year, the New York Jets will move their training facility from Hofstra to Florham Park, NJ.
Thanks Wayne,
Yeah that's how i saw this trade also. It set in motion a lot possibly good things at the QB position.
