How many starting linebackers are actually on theb field for 85% of a their team's defensive plays? What are the stats on that? What's the definition of a defensive play.
Did more than half of NFL LBs reach that threshold in 2007? Don't hold your breath waiting for Vilma to do it.
Still, it seems unethical for a team to trade its #2--after it has made the possibility of that pick a part of an earilier trade deal.
Where's Commissioner Roger (Mr. Integrity) Goodell on this kind of double-dealing?
RC Meany, it's a fair point and a good question, something we will ask Tannenbaum about for sure when we get a chance to talk to him at camp. On the surface, there seems something dubious about dealing a pick that possibly could go to another team. It's always possible there's something we don't know in the fine print.
The other part of your question is that the threshold of 85% can and is reached by some LBs. Think David Harris once he got in the starting lineup.

Thats a good question, do punts or field goal attempts count? What about fake punts and field goals, are those defensive plays?
I think if Vilma is healthy he will reach that mark, but I think it is the resigning with them that will cost the Jets the second rounder.

Eric, any news on Gholston's signing yet? Does it look like he'll report to camp on time? It would seem with the time he lost during mini-camp, he would need to not miss any practice time.
J., haha. Yeah, that's the problem with the whole "written record" of things. I can see why the government - Dems and Reps both of course - shreds things and the like. But I'll stand by my Revis prediction. A feeling...
