A roster with some of the trimmings

Thank goodness for air cards so I can update this blog from some remote rest stop in Pennsylvania along I-80 East. You know the place.

Anyway, the Jets this afternoon waived receiver/returner Ashlan Davis, running back Justin Valentine and defensive back Kenny Patton. All three were undrafted free agent signings this offseason.

Good discussion, by the way, underneath the fish girls post. Nice job this past week covering everything from my choice of vacation destination to the Jets free agent pickups to the Favre rumors. And Mr. Green T, no secrets to share from Cleveland. It is a football town, but right now the hot topic is last year's Cy Young award winner getting shipped to the Brewers. And with that, carry on.

Not to burst everyone's Favre fantasy with a reality check, but how would all of you drooling over BF fit his $12M salary under the cap?

Not that I think there is a chance in heck of him coming here, even if the Jets wanted him why would he want the Jets?

The feeling is mutual non-interest.

Add my non-interest to the equation.

Welcome back EB - even if Favre came here and won us a super bowl he will always be a packer - it's like getting Shaq as an alternate in a pick up basketball game - the franchise would never get the credit & respect it deserved - an already haunting issue we deal with on a daily basis.

Erik,
maybe they made some room on the roster for veteran backup help. Clement would be perfect for OT and i quess they will be looking for a TE.

maybe the Jets could sign C.C. Sabathia after his contract runs out this season, and make Erik happy

unlike CP, at least he can throw a fastball

I heard Brett is just looking for a chance to play with Bubba Franks again.

Enjoy your "vacation", Boland?

Boland, if I remember correctly I think I stopped at a rest stop along I-80 today as well! maybe that was you on the other side of the stall....anyways I'm sorry you had to go through the middle of bumblef*** PA to get home from the middle of nothingness Ohio....but its good to hear from you.

Anyways, Sabathia is worth every cent of it...if the Brewers pickup Bedard too it could be game over in the NL.

Cliff did that other guy in that stall have a WIDE STANCE? :)

Just a reminder, no super bowl winning QB (see Joe Montana) has moved to another team and won another super bowl.

If Favre comes back it will be to the Packers, if he's smart. Unless he gets an opportunity to start with the Patsies, going to another team would be a waste of time.

And Erik, I understand it takes about three weeks to drive across Pennsylvania on I80, or just feels that way. Good luck.

By any chance, with all the money we've been throwing around to our OLB (Pace, Thomas, Gholston), is there a way to integrate all three of them into the linebacking corps at the same time? say, maybe one of them take middle linebacker next to Harris? I honestly dont know how good a fit any of them would be at the position, but it bothers me that atleast one of those guys would be warming the bench and all three are gettting paid significant money.

Bryan, the golf swing showed tremendous improvement by the end of the vacation and, really, that's all that matters.

Ira, your theory is possible but it could also be the Jets are close to signing a couple of the draft picks.

John Z., yes, it does feel like about three weeks. An endless stretch of trees and rocks, scenic as they are.

JayM., there can never be enough Larry Craig references. Well done.

And Brian, that is an excellent question because Bryan Thomas made it clear in the OTAs and minicamp that he's not surrendering his job easily. Long way to go to say this - no pads have been put on so the OTAs didn't yield a lot of info in this area - but if the Jets end up with three capable pass rushers, they'll find a way to get them all on the field somehow.
