The Jets just now confirmed the signing of Hofstra offensive lineman Shawn McMackin, a tryout invitee to the just-concluded rookie minicamp, to their roster. The team waived two players: Brett Byford, a center from Nebraska, and Al Phillips, a cornerback from Wagner. Both were among the 10 rookie free agents the Jets signed shortly after the draft's conclusion. The Jets currently have 79 players - each team is allowed 80 - signed to the roster.

Last year's rookie RT must've really fallen out of favor. It seems like we've got a rotating door of OL
Seems like we've got a rotating door of OL since last year. We must be pretty disappointed in last year's rookie RT.
Hey Erik,
How about writing a piece about the veterans, at least 3 years removed from college, on the bubble? Basically, I want to know if this camp is do or die for Brad Smith.
Roger, I'll be addressing the larger context of your question when we get closer to the early June minicamp, but as a short to the Smith question; not quite a do-or-die camp for him, though the Jets will be committed to finding out if they have something more with Smith beyond a gimmicky option QB. That phase for Smith appears over.
I think with B. Smith's versatility, it will be hard for him to get cut. He was in so many ST plays last year...
