Rhodes locked up (in a good way, not a Bengals way)

I'm back -- well, I never had a chance to leave really -- and I bring good news.

The Jets and Kerry Rhodes have agreed to a contract extension. Now, it's not finalized but that should take place Thursday morning. The deal I'm hearing is five years for 33.5 million with 20 million guaranteed. Not bad for a guy who made $354,400 in non-acting work last season.

An argument could be made that in an offseason of big splash signings by the Jets, this was the most important one.

if some one had asked me "do you think we could possibly sign Faneca, Jenkins and Pace, then go and bring in a new Right Tackle (who excelled at the job in Detroit, albeit for just 5 weeks but 5 weeks that made an impression on any one who saw it happen), a blocking Tight End, last year's probowl Full Back who is another monster run blocker, an excellent back up runing back to split time with Jones and on top of it re-sign our own star Safety plus apease our lone complainer in Coles by guaranteeing his remaining contract", I would say: IMPOSSIBLE! And I would say such a pre draft signing activity would be the best that one could possibly wish for. Not enough credit is being given to Tangini for doing this. How could any one wish for more?!

great point anonymous

Love the Bengals line -- classic. Rhodes is one of the best safeties in the league. Great move.

This is awesome. Great off-season so far.... and we still have two weeks til the draft.

(oh... and Tom Rock is still dead to me.)

Thats the best news I've gotten in a long time. Maybe we can also sign some of his Louisville buddies... Brian Brohm or Urrutia.
