Brady and Moss are active

By Tom Rock

Here's a service for those of you sitting at home saying "Hmm, I wonder who the inactives in today's AFC title game will be. Maybe I'll check Newsday's Jets blog to find out."

Well, you're in luck.

First the Chargers, since they had the most mystery this week. Rivers, LT and Gates are all active. Those not playing are: QB Charlie Whitehurst, K Dave Rayner, CB Cletis Gordon, CB Paul Oliver, LB Anthony Waters, WR Malcolm Floyd, TE Scott Chandler and DT Brandon McKinney.

Inactives for the Pats: QB Matt Gutierrez, WR Chad Jackson, S Mel Mitchell, CB Antwain Spann, T Wesley Britt, G Billy Yates, WR Troy Brown and DL LeKevin Smith.

Temperatures are in the balmy 20s in Foxborough. Much warmer than Green Bay. Hey, I wonder which of our guys out covering the Giants game drew the short straw and had to go outside in the auxiliary press box.

Me: "Hello, My name is Allen and I'm a Jet Fan"

Group: "Hello Allen"

Me: "I am living with shame forever tattooed on my forehead, as a Jets Fan. My crosstown rival has gone to the Superbowl this year. Good for them. My most hated rival in the NFL is going to be remembered as the greatest football team in history and will win at all in 2 weeks. The utter humiliation will continue."

Group: "We're all so sorry Allen. We know you've made the effort as a fan and have been puinished for it."

Me: "Why can't I quit you, Jets? Why (sob, sob)

Group: "We give you permission to root for the Giants, even though you are yet another bandwagon fan."

Me: "Thank you, but they have no chance of beating the Pats."

Group: "Thus, your suffering will continue...."

Tom- I was completely bummed out by the spectacle of the Giants/Patriots in the limelight on Sunday and I wanted to see if you had any nuggets of information. Your intro about the absurdity of going to a Jets blog for information on the AFC title game made me laugh. Good job.
