Win it for Eric!

By Tom Rock

That’s what Kerry Rhodes said. He knows the coach won’t like it much (at least not on the outside), but he said it anyway.

When asked about the Patriots playing to defend their coach, Rhodes let loose:

“Well, we feel the same way,” Rhodes said. “We believe in him, he’s our guy and we’re going to stick with him whatever situation he’s in. If they think he’s a cheater, or whatever the situation is, then they think about us the same way. That’s how we feel about it and we’re going to come out and fight for him. We’re going to fight to the end.”

Rhodes said he wasn’t alone in that sentiment, but most players won’t talk about it because they know Mangini would not approve. What made Rhodes say it? Who knows.

Rhodes also addressed his former coach, Bobby Petrino, who unceremoniously bolted from the Falcons this week.

“I was shocked that he left after the 13th game of the season, but the fact that he went back to college, I’m not surprised at that at all,” said Rhodes, who played for Petrino at Louisville. “The effect he had on the players in college was, I’m sure, a whole lot better than the effect he had with these players now in the NFL.”

Rhodes was asked what it would be like to have a coach leave the team this late in the season.

“I’m sure it’s a tough situation for your head guy to leave you,” he said. “I’m sure they feel betrayed. I’m sure they feel like he bailed out on them. Like he quit on them. But I know him, he’s not a quitter. He’s one of those guys who likes to get the job done. He instilled a lot of the competitive nature in me so I know he didn’t leave for that reason.”

By the way, the Jets were in a similar position once. In 1976 Lou Holtz left the Jets after 13 games during a 14-game season. Just like Petrino, he left for a job at Arkansas.

If hypocrite Man-gina left today, the team probably wouldn't even realize it...and if they DID notice - they probably wouldn't care...

hope Man-loser is willing to coach some PopWarner after the Jets can him...because NOBODY else will want IT!

Win it for Eric ??? Now taht is funny. A bunch of underachieving NEVERWERES are gonna win for a ball boy ???????

If I can't get an upset win over the evil Patsies, then I want Brady being taken out of this game and get injured. Cheap shot Brady all game, Jets, and you'll win back your fans. And screw you, Belichick!
