Just a little something from the files of Police Squad -- looks like Nugent and Mangold will have another Buckeye to pal around with:
The New York Jets announced they have signed G Adrien Clarke to a Reserve/Future contract. The announcement was made by General Manager Mike Tannenbaum. Clarke, originally a seventh round pick from Ohio State in 2004 NFL Draft, started four games for the Eagles at left guard in 2005, appearing in a total of 13 games. Clarke started 43 games at Ohio State and was a key member of the Buckeyes’ offensive line during their 2002 National Championship run. Clarke is the eighth player the Jets have signed to a Reserve/Future contract. The other signed players are: DE Darrell Adams, CB Alphonso Hodge, WR Frisman Jackson, TE Joe Kowalewski, DT Keyonta Marshall, DT Matt McChesney and DT Zarnell Fitch.

Any comments about internet rumors about Parcells joining the Jets as a "consultant" type in his retirement years?
I have been following football for 25+ years and have never heard of a future/reserve contract. Can you explain that to me?
Thanks
Seth
What is a reserve futures contract?
My understanding is that the reserve/futures contract is a contract that is not yet in effect (it begins at the start of the season) but still prohibits the player from negotiating with other teams. But I'll ask around with a few agents to get a more specific definition.
New Jersey is an inconvenient dump.
Hey Tom,
Before you get too deep into "off season mode"... how about getting & providing some info on who the J-E-T-S is looking at for their open coaching positions. Darren Perry, who recently resigned from the Steelers, might be a good replacement for Corwin Brown as secondary coach.
Randy Moss to Jets sound nice considering he wants to be traded. Chad and Randy have a history together, and could work out as long as he behaves.
Who would the jets trade to get him? draft picks?
NEEDS FOR NEXT YEAR:
RUNNING BACK
DEFENSIVE LINEMAN
EXPLOSIVE RECEIVER{RANDY MOSS}
CORNERBACK
Dont the future/reserve guys usually get allocated to NFL Europe?
