One of the perils of being a player who everyone comes into camp "keeping an eye on" is that all of your mistakes are magnified. With everyone guessing that Sinorice Moss is basically playing for his Giants career in this camp, he's been under the microscope this first week and a half. That means every drop is written about, and to be fair, there have been a lot of them.
But tonight, No. 83 had a pretty good practice. It started with a nice catch from Manning in 11s on a ball that was thrown behind him on a crossing pattern. Moss did a good job of turning his body instead of just reaching behind him to make the catch with R.W. McQuarters in coverage. Later, in 7-on-7s, he made another good play. This time it wasn't a catch. Carr aired one out down the left sideline and Moss and Corey Webster (another scrutinized guy) were going after it. Webster actually had a better angle on th eball but Moss did what good receivers sometimes do, and that's turn into a DB. He was able to swat at the ball and break up what might have been an interception.
So, good job, Sinorice.
As for the rest of practice, there was some thumping going on. Lots of good hits. The whack of the day came from Derrick Ward, who put his helmet right in the chest of Justin Tuck and knocked the big guy over. Now, it's hard to say this was a true 1-on-1 battle. Tuck likely eased up, as the defensive players have been, at the point of contact. Still, Tuck got put on his can by the running back.
As far as injuries, the only new one was Antonio Pierce, who was out resting his shoulder. He was joined on the sideline by Burress, Wilkinson, Tyree, D.Clark, S.Smith and Manningham. Olivea was not on the field but did not participate. And Chris Snee left the field late in practice. No update on him just yet. (Just found out it's his shoulder and shouldn't be a big deal).
Tynes kicked three of four field goal attempts, hitting from 31, 34 and 37 yards and then missing a 40-yarder wide right.
In 7-on-7s, Hedgecock made a nice catch on a swing pass that he tipped to himself. Maybe this is the year he touches the ball in a game. Webster made a nice play to cut in front of Hixon and knock down a pass from Manning. London beat Terrell Thomas deep down the right sideline but couldn't hold onto the ball off his fingers. Thorpe made a nice catch extending his long body on a throw from Wright, ,but the play took WAY too long to develop.
And Blackburn, playing for Pierce in the middle, made a couple of nice plays. He stuffed a run by Jacobs up the middle early in 11-on-11s, then made a great INT in front of Boss in the end zone later when the team was working on red zone stuff.
Finally, Burress may be getting closer to the field. Tonight, instead of wearing turf shoes as he has been for most of the practices, he was earing what looked like a new pair of red Nike cleats. Perhaps those are the ones with the orthotics that are supposed to help his ankle. Coughlin said Burress was supposed to meet with the doctors today.

Tom,
I've been very impressed with your reports. I was a HUGE Art Staple fan on this blog, and I do miss his style. But quite frankly, you've done a hell of a job with your practice reports. Thanks for all the great info!
