Its nice thats its a Sunday game instead of a Saturday game, players can get an extra day of rest
Good thing those injuries arent too serious, specially for O'Hara, the back-ups played good though
Funny how we went all out and played great with our starters, and Dallas went with most of there starters for the 1st half and just played awful, now they have to sit 2 weeks with a terrible performance, great confiedence booster for them
This momentum thing is overrated. The banged-up Giants will be lucky to avoid another one-and-done next week whereas the Cowbags will be back in the cozy confines of Texas Stadium in two weeks getting ready to hold serve and represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
I disagree t dips bcuz I see momentum differently than most I see momentum as rythm which the giants gained much of and as far as those injuries go they aren't serious and everyone will probably play I don't see a one and done bcuz the giants are better than the bucs and they established a rythm and confidence the bucs don't have after resting and losing two weeks in a row
Excellent game. I found myself rooting harder for the Giants then i have since last years playoff game. They finally earned some respect from everyone in the league. I love TC's mentality going into this game.
Did anyone else think Aaron Ross had a horrible game? This guy cannot tackle and should not be the CB they send in on the blitz. There were two different times he blitzed and when the FB stepped up to block him, he gave up. He has got to get a lot tougher if he is going to be a solid starting CB in the NFL.
It was a very good game, and its nice to see that some of the writers/announcers were supporting the G-men
And concerning Andrew about Ross, he did pretty good, have to remember he is still a Rookie going agianst the #1 Team, he did have a nice open field tackle for a loss agianst Wes Welker, who is a very impresesive WR, who can usually avoid the first tackler
I'll admit the blitz didnt really work that well with him, but hey thats why they're the number one team
It was really nice to see Brady getting hits and hurried and sacked, he is an excellent QB, and I still cant believe he was a 6th round pick. Anyways it was an excellent matchup and the Pats deserved to go undefeated, im just glad we didnt just give it to them, by resting our starters
aaron ross is the best blitzer in the giants secondary, he had the most sacks and didnt even start until what week 6? watch more than one game in a season before you make ignorant assumptions.
Gruden chose to rest his guys, and the Bucs looked pathetic, losing their last two games to the 49ers and Panthers. The Giants proved they can play with anyone, and they are a great road team. Tampa won't be able to play from behind, so if the Giants grab an early lead it'll be all over.
I will be in Tampa this weekend for my first-ever Giants road game, and I am trying to convince myself to enjoy the weather and the event no matter what, because there three main reasons I think the Giants are in for another one-and-done. I think you will at least agree they all have some merit.
1. Jeff Garcia is a Giant-killer. He is 4-1 lifetime against them (2-0 in the playoffs) and, back problems aside, is the kind of mad-scrambling QB the Giants historically have had trouble containing. Plus he will be working against a banged-up secondary that will be minus a healthy Sam Madison. That bodes well for Joey Galloway considering it was after Madison came out of the game last week that the Patriots finally decided to attack the Giants with the deep ball.
2. The consistently inconsistent Eli factor. He was tremendous last weekend against the Patriots, which means this weekend likely will be a reversion to form. Not to mention the fact that the Bucs' pass defense is more stout, and that Ronde Barber for sure is gathering some inside information from his brother on 1) reading the Giants' offense and 2) the "comical" Eli's tendencies.
3. The fine line between confidence and overconfidence. The Giants do not know how to stradle it well. Think about it. When Tiki is on the team and decides to tempt fate by talking -- gulp! -- Super Bowl, the Giants are probably the most underachieving team in the league (a la 2006). Then, with Tiki gone and bashing them along with the rest of the media's many doubters, they play harder, overcome injuries and, on the whole, overachieve en route to a 10-6 record and unexpected third straight playoff berth.
Some people are saying that playing the Pats tough was the best thing that could have happened to the Giants entering the playoffs. I say this "momentum" thing is overrated. Why? Because now the Giants are thinking who they are again. Antonio Pierce, who is one of my favorite players, had the audacity to say "maybe now people will start considering us Super Bowl contenders." Are you kidding me, AP? The Giants are looking down the barrel of a third straight early playoff exit and you are talking and thinking about earning the respect of the media and other teams in the league? After what was a valiant effort but still a loss? After your defense just allowed 38 points and blew a 12-point second-half lead?
If anything, the scare the Giants gave New England may only serve to hurt them -- not because it may have worn them down physically when a week of rest could have benefitted them more, but mainly because they will start thinking they are good again and listening to the many reporters and broadcasters picking them to win the Tampa game -- many of whom, just two weeks ago, were saying the Giants were going to miss the playoffs.
I hope the Giants don't believe the hype they created last weekend. It's when the Giants can sneak up on teams like they did against the Patriots that they are at their best. Now Tampa has more film to game plan against them, and the already injury-riddled Giants have even less horses to ride them into the second round.
Gianni! Did they teach New Yorkers how to puncuate? You've got yourself a run-on paragraph! T dips makes a good point...4-5 of them. Have you guys won ANYTHING since Bill Parcells? Nope. Come and enjoy the weather though. GO BUCS!
