Pierce's ankle sore, McKenzie 'encouraged'

Pierce was limping noticeably as he left today, but said the sprained ankle he suffered late on Sunday was nowhere near as bad as the high sprain that killed his 2005 season. "If it was that bad," he said, "I wouldn't even be here now."

Kareem McKenzie said he was "encouraged" by how he felt today after he suffered a bruised leg on Sunday.

No word on Aaron Ross' hamstring, or the early-week status of Jacobs or Ward.

Eli spoke at length, took everyone's questions about his psyche, and said his usual stuff... We'll have it later.

UPDATE: TC said Ward will likely practice on Wednesday and Jacobs' status is up in the air. Ross will be "limited," according to the coach, so his injury seems to have gotten worse.

And TC on Eli's level personality: "That's him, and that's good enough for me."

What about Smith? Will we ever see him again?

Artie.....why do you guys even bother to interview Eli? It's like listening to a flat tire....."I've got to play better...." bbllllffftttt!

Hey, when do you guys film that NYG show with Papa? Saturdays?

just say it Eli, "I SUCKED"

JD- The show with Papa, 'Giants Online', is available on Wednesday on giants.com, so I'd think it is taped either wednesday or tuesday. Speaking of which, I call for an emergency Giants Online session with Fooch.

Arthur,
Something else (besides Eli) was wrong with the offense yesterday and I have not heard one reporter talk about it or ask TC. The receivers and Eli looked like they were running different plays and I wonder if TC and the gang put in some sort of "new" offense for that game and no one really knew it. On several plays Shockey hadn't even turned to look for the ball and several times it looked like Tommer and Plax ran different routes than Eli thought they would. That seems very strange in week 12 doesn't it? To have guys suddenly forget plays? Same with the O-line. New blocking schemes?

This would not be the first time TC "put in too much" and the players couldn't get it in time. The last little bit of evidence I have for something "bigger" being wrong is that this is the second time this has happened against the Vikings.

Eli wasn't great but my concern is that it looked like a systemic problem that only a coaching staff could create since the players don't have the power to make that drastic a change. I'd really love to hear some "inside reporting" and know what changed and who did it.

As far as Eli's personality--WHO CARES!!!!! He's not a cheerleader he's a QB. I don't remember Joe Montana jumping up and down and stamping his feet when a game went bad. This is such a non story. That calm demeanor paid off in the Philly game (game 2?) last year and is big when you are starting a last minute drive. He is a professional and he's acting like one. What do you guys want him to do? Throw his helmet at the wall? Will that fix the offense? Curse out his teammates? Will that make them stop dropping passes? That is just a silly complaint and doesn't really have anything to do with a football game! Besides Shockey is emotional and everyone wants him to tone it down and shut up. So which is it people? You want Shockey and Eli to change personalities? Or do we just have to find unimportant things to whine about when they play poorly?

How about you ask Eli this question next time he says "I need to play better"

Eli when are you going to stop saying you need to play better and play better.

That should get you some good answers. And something everyone wants to hear...

Im just intrested to see how Eli responds from a bad game to the Bears game

That defines Character

Cant wait to see what everyone has to say on Giants Online

This experience might be good in the end, tells the Giants "wait a minute how did we loss this Game? something needs to be fixed"

Giants really need to start fixing some problems that really hurt them. Like the Giants defeating the Giants (not the vikings the Giants beat themselves)
Turnovers
running wrong routes
Pentalities
Drop Balls!!!!!(dont know how many time i can say that, so embarrasing)

Bradshaw, Bradshaw, Bradshaw he keeps impressing me every week, find a way to give him the ball, offense seemed to lite up when he was in there (should of been in there more)

Its all about how this Giants team is going to react that will tell you where they are heading this final stretch

and i will never give any game stats a guess agian. (although i was pretty close Eli had almost 300 yards, had 4 TDs but 3 of them were to the other team, guess i should be more specific next time =)

oh and for the love of all thats good (refering to Bears game)

Someone please tell Tynes NOT TO KICK IT TO D. HESTER

I dont care if you kick it out of bounds, touchback whatever you got to do, just dont kick it to him

(same goes for Feagles, but i think he's knows)

Let there offense beat us, not there special teams

Oh and if you see Hester in the offense, hes going deep, shut him down quickly

I said it here at the end of last season when Gilbride was promoted as a 'reward' for failing misrebaly at QB coach: The Giants' offense will get worse NOT better.

Note how Eli's mechanics are no longer the issue - and conversely, the offense isn't putting up big numbers - even against inferior teams.

I take no satisfaction in being correct.

This offense has been under-performing ALL SEASON LONG. The lack of production gets worse as the season progresses because other teams are studying tape. A good offensive coordinator changes his offense just enough to keep ahead of opposing defenses. (I won't even get into the play design or the play calling.)

The Vikings "D" fooled our "O" - it should be the other way around. Linebackers were blitzing up the middle all day long. They were coming free - untouched. That means the blitzes were well designed - disguised - to fool out line and backs and Eli. Well done Vikes! Shame on Gilbride for not preparing our team!!!

All Giants fans should be prepared to watch us limp into the playoffs and exit in the first round.

Coughlin knows Gilbride is the problem, but they are old cronies - so he is loathe to fire him.

To everyone else who thinks Eli is the problem: It's KEVIN GILBRIDE, stupid!

-Big BB

Eli needs to play better but the coaching staff needs to do a better job of preparing the team. That loss is squarely on their shoulders.

Cant believe the NFL officials are stepping in on the Giants Defense pool they had going. Yea i see the harm, give the players a little extra incentive to play at their best and the whole system is going down.

Also, Shame about S. Taylor (RIP) for Redskins

Just hate to see something like that happen

Was suprised, they said he was doing good yesterday, then today was gone

I was better.

Ok folks.....let us take a look . The Giants offense is in need of some sort of shake up to get back on the road. I agree every where Gilbride has gone over the last few years he has stunk as a Coordinator and as an asst. This is a point that is not brought up much because the "Eli thing" is a bigger story. There are those who would secretly love to see Eli Fail, ever since this kid said he did not want to be a Charger and Wantonly protested to that fact ( which is the only time I've ever seem him display any fire in his attitude) Some of the media and fans have disliked him and wanted to see him fail. Also, for as many "Manning family" fans there are ,they have a few public enemies who love the fact the kid is not playing well. We remember last year from the whole John Hufnagel debacle that for no matter how good are bad Eli is someone else will get the blame for his ineptness. The Giants as an organization have gave up too much to just give up on what former GM Ernie Acorsi labeled a Slam Dunk when Eli was drafted. He even was bold enough to say that he felt he could've given more. Maybe Eli is a "sure thing" and maybe he is the "cream of the crop" as some say he is. Whatever the case or situation may be one thing we all know, "It is ,what it is " and that Ain't pretty.

Well the one thing we can all agree on is Accorsi is an ass. That trade was disgusting from day 1. A bad team does not give up the following year's #1 to move 3 spots. Not when the player sought will not, by plan, have an impact on the coming season. The deal sucked regardless of Eli's career. Re Eli, he has time, can be a good NFL QB. Don't see him ever being great, but if the line, running, system all fall in sync he can do some impressive things. The disappointment in this game is he looked lost before the first snap. Pathetic in his 50th start. That's why he should have been benched in the 4th. He should have had a chip on his shoulder against the Vikes, instead he was mentally unprepared to take the field. There was no reason to leave the him and Plax on the field in the last 10 min. Whatever, reading Reese's comments in Glauber's piece was encouraging.

Shut up, Dave Brown. You were not better. But I was.
