-- At the Garden State Plaza mall today... Just missed Tiki's book signing, but his autobiography is everywhere in the bookstore. So are copies of his and Ronde's kids books. Where is Strahan's book? One copy is visible. In the "Bargain blowout" bin. Naughty, naughty, Tiki... Strahan's gonna get you for this.
-- Listen, Uncle BB, I appreciate the support. I'll bring the potato salad to the next picnic.
-- As to the question that at least one or two of you seem to care about... I am not a Giants fan. I never was. Growing up, I didn't care one bit about the NFL. I wrote sidebars on two NFL games before I started this beat in 2005, and those were the only two NFL games I'd ever attended.
I hope no one gets too upset about this. For me, it makes no difference; I'm still giving you what I hope you want, because you guys and gals are the fans. I report, you decide, to paraphrase the pillar of our news biz. OK, that's not entirely true, because I give you some lip on this blog, but if the Giants were 2-6 right now instead of 6-2, I hope I'd be giving you the same attitude. Stories might be different and the quotes might be different, but I stay the same.
One time I rooted for the Giants. Super Bowl XXV -- I was a sophomore in college and Nick Bechakas, my roommate and now the proprietor of the Olympic Restaurant in Buffalo (there's two, one right by the airport, so you better get there when you head up for the Dec. 23 game), was and is a diehard Bills fan.
I pulled for the Giants just to bust his chops... I actually felt bad when Norwood missed. He's gotten over it.
Enjoy a Giants-free Sunday. Back with Monday's tidbits from the locker room.

Well, now that the BIG ONE is over and we already know in November who the next Superbowl champs will be, lets address this Sunday. Unlike the losses and Merrill and Citi, the subprime mess is not going to be the issue Big Blue - our problem continues to be Manning (our Manning, not Indianapolis; by the way, did you see his emotions - their Manning, not ours). This time next week, Artie will be writing about our problem (Shockey would say - "and you can print that!") This week, lets for once try to keep this blog honest or else we will have to move over to the dark side -The Star Ledger... Gentlemen, any comments?
Now I know why I disagree with your observations. You don't really know the game. You simply report what others say. No intelligence in doing that!
So much for the honesty - I really do believe that most of us appreciate alternative opinions and views - but as usual in this neck of the woods and on this blog, when nothing else to say - attack...! The Giants are ranked 5th / 6th depending on who you read - do you think thats "intelligent" or even rational? If the season ended today, do you think they could go 2 or 3 deep in the playoffs given on who they have played so far? Those are my observations, address them! I think our guys are two or three players away (and perhaps a head coach and quarterback) from dominating beyond just the weak... Enough said - we'll see on Sunday - I really do hope that I am wrong: to my friend Jint35, I will be happy to agree with you, if... - log-on next Monday morning...
