While the game's still fresh in everyone's minds, let's run down what transpired last night:
THE GOOD
Osi, Osi, Osi: Someone said he could've had twice as many sacks as the six he had, and that's almost accurate -- he barely missed on at least four other rushes. Winston Justice had his welcome-to-the-NFL moment; so did Andy Reid, who admitted after the game what a bunch of Giants wondered aloud. Where was the help for Justice?
Kiwanuka/Tuck: Five sacks between 'em, and now nine for the season. Tuck bounced in and out all night and was a force, even against the run a couple of times. Kiwanuka had good pursuit as a LB, or at least better than he'd had -- got caught in coverage against Kevin Curtis once, but it didn't hurt them.
Strahan: Got his sack record, hit McNabb a couple other times and made a couple nice run stops. Apparently Reid still thinks it's 2002, because his chip blocks almost all came against Strahan.
Kawika Mitchell: Really getting his legs under him in open space. He's not the biggest, fastest or strongest, but he's making better open-field tackles and he did score the biggest points of the night by being in the right place.
Michael Johnson: Not really sure if the rook doesn't have his assignments figured out yet, but he was pressed into action for a few plays last night with James Butler needing his ankle wrapped and Johnson showed speed and aggressiveness -- two things Butler hasn't really shown yet.
Corey Webster: Give the young man some love for a terrific ST play, downing a Feagles punt at the Philly 1. He was in there on D too, spelling Kevin Dockery and Sam Madison for short stretches. Like everyone else in the secondary, he looked great, because nothing threatening came his way.
David Diehl: Kept Trent Cole on the outside all night. Very, very solid game again.
THE BAD
McNabb: Have you, Giants fans, ever seen him look so poor? He was patting that football on third down like never before, and his knee is clearly a factor because he waited awfully long to pull the ball down and run -- even then, he got tripped up three times for sacks when the usual McNabb steps away and picks up a dozen yards. His throws were bad too.
Tynes/Alford: There's still something wrong with the Giants kicking game. Rookie Jay Alford delivered a terrible snap on Tynes' missed 34-yarder, and the missed extra point didn't seem like a good snap either.
Stone hands: Madison and Mitchell dropped easy INTs, plays that could have cemented the win even earlier.
Kareem McKenzie: The Eagles have given the bigt RT fits over his Giants tenure. Jevon Kearse dominated McKenzie last night.
THE UGLY
Eagles penalties: Bunch of completely undisciplined flags -- two 15-yard face masks, Will James (Peterson) taking a 32-yard pass interference penalty. The Eagles defense had 82 penalty yards, or just less than the 83 rushing yards the Giants managed all game.
Eli: A couple drops, but he's got to get the big bonehead throw out of his system. Omar Gaither's pick at the Philly 8 late in the second quarter was a poor decision, and a poor throw.
The air-horn factor: Postgame locker room. Pierce, to me: "Air horn, baby."
Me: "Huh?"
Pierce: "Air horn. We're 2-0 since the air horn. Whatever it takes."

Someone buy these guys enough air horns to last the rest of the season!
Huh? Sorry but if they keep playing like that, I hope you guys get blasted in the ear with air horns every day! >:-)
Where is Aaron Ross in the GOOD? he should be in the GREAT! He has fraking skills! I love how Spags is utilizing his abilities. Hes alllllll over the field!!
WOW spags has this much confidence in a rookie to give him alot of difficult important roles (nickel).
ARTHUR!! THANK GOD!!! It looks like we FINALLY got a CB draft pick right this time and a cornerstone in the secondary to build around. i love his emotions out there when the D makes a play he has tools GMs drool over.
Size- 6'1 193lbs.
Long arms
Speed
Tackling
Intagibles
Attitude- (im impressed with his interviews with the media in how smart he is and how he conducts himself)
He has it all to be a BALLER!
Props to Reese!!
Nothig wrong with the D right now. I never thought I'd be saying that after what happened in the first 2 games, but it feels good finally to say that we have a defensive coordinator that knows what the hell he's doing and is consistant. McNabb is still scooping his ass off the Giants Stadium turf as I speak. Bring on the lowly Jets!
One thing that was disconcerting was the red zone offense. It's clear that field goals aren't going to be a sure thing this season.
Hopefully when Jacobs comes back then we can get more yardage close to the goal line. Also, didn't see many looks to Shockey who usually is key in the red zone.
Eagle fans that I know are crying about the way the Giants abused the dirty birds last night. "Look at all the injuries."
Too bad.
When the Giants and Eagles lined up for their playoff game last year the Giants were down 12 guys, 7 whom were starters so SAVE IT!
Oh and Mcnabb can't run like he used to!
P.S. Thanks for Spagnulo!
come on Arthur. I dont think you can totally blame that INT on Eli.
a couple of things, it didnt look like Shockey gave it his all. If he ran his hardest, and didnt slip he might have been there, and after he slipped he just watched the ball, he didnt try to make a play. Like Will Petes showed on the long pass interference, its better to get a penalty and not a big play. Will Petes saved a TD and we only got a FG, if shcokey just grabbed him they would have had a FG at least.
And who knows if Shockey was supposed to go the other way. Turn in instead of out. Im just saying, maybe 50-50 on that one.
I don't know about the rest of you, but it felt to me like the Giants blitzed more last night than they did during the entire tenures of Johnny Lynch and Tim Lewis. Nice job, Spags! Keep it up!
Great game for the Giants. However, let's remember this was a severely hobbled Eagles team that we destroyed. Still, it was nice to see the pass rush (along with Philly's awful WR corps) cover up the deficiencies of the secondary.
And I still can't figure out why Andy Reid refused to give Winston Justice any help. Perhaps after the 2nd or 3rd sack, you'd think he'd realize that Justice was utterly overmatched against Osi. Oh well. Good for us.
Barring any devastating injuries, the Giants should win their next 4 games against weak competition ("should" being the key word) which sets up the week 10 rematch against the Cowgirls as a very interesting game. Of course, it's after a dreaded bye, so they'll probably look listless and unprepared.
Frickin' Coughlin.
I'm not getting cocky now. But does anybody out there think the Jets have a real chance? Seeing that Pennington is struggling and the Jets offense isn't really good, well atleast not as good as the Giants' Defense has been.
The Giants should beat the Jets, who frankly suck.
However, we're just as capable of stinking up the joint as Gang Green is.
I see an ugly, ugly game, but the Giants should pull it out.
The Jets are a hard team to read. Some days their offense shows up, some days their defense plays ok, but they aren't really looking like the 10-6 team they were last year.
I think the Giants D can get to Chad Pennington and put up some points on the defense. I was suprised that they lost to the Bills last weekend, led by a rookie QB.
I hate the Jets b/c they couldn't win or cover the 3.5 points against a non drafted rookie QB, and a defense missing like 5 starters. They suck!!!
I think Trent Edwards was drafted 1st or 2nd round.. regardless, no team should be losing to a QB in his first start on a below-average team.
About Madison dropping an easy one, he was playing with a separated shoulder at that moment in the game, u could see him unable to left it, i believe its his left shoulder.
Give him some credit for playing thru that, cant blame him for dropping that one late in the game.
I told you guys the Giants D was fine. The pressure is on and look how good we look. What could be better than beating the Jets this week...how 'bout ending Chad's season and getting to listen to Jets fans cry about it. Go Big Blue!!!
Artie - Anthony Mix waived! And no comments by anyone on this blog or even yourself? WOW, its time to move over to the dark-side - The Star Ledger!
I AGREE! THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT ART! Enuff with the stupid "what's yo favorite playlist" and a little more "just give me the news a beat before ESPN, PLEASE!". Or, alternatively, how about some inside stuff we're not going to get anywhere else?
I think waiving Anthony Mix is a HORRIBLE move, and is quite newsworthy. I hated when we let go Mcaffrey and Jurivicious, and it was like an old wound that never healed when they became stellar receivers.
For everyone else out there, here's the blog entry from the Star Ledger's MG which would have been the sort of thing I would have liked to have seen here!!
WR Mix waived; former Bronco Hixon signed

In a surprising move, the Giants have waived second-year WR Anthony Mix, an undrafted free agent from last year who had an impressive preseason and appeared to be a potential contributor in this offense. Mix was waived to make room on the roster for WR Domenik Hixon, a special-teams contributor who might challenge PR R.W. McQuarters and KR Reuben Droughns. Hixon was waived by the Broncos yesterday and claimed by the Giants today.
Mix will find a job elsewhere very quickly. With his size (6-5, 235) and ability, he's the kind of receiver a team would love to try developing. The Giants likely waived him because he doesn't contribute much on special teams and plays the "X" receiver spot exclusively. That's Plaxico Burress' position, so Mix isn't able to get on the field unless Burress is injured. And with a creaky ankle that keeps him out of practice during the week, it's always a possibility Burress might have to take a seat. If he does, Mix won't be around to fill the void.
Hixon averaged 22.8 yards per kick return and 4.6 yards on seven punt returns with Denver this year. He was on the Broncos' non-football injury list all of last season after suffering a foot injury while preparing for the draft. Denver selected Hixon in the fourth round.
Hixon, by the way, was the player Bills TE Kevin Everett hit when he suffered his neck injury.

While I doubt The Giants dumped the next Jerry Rice, I find it odd they would dump Plaxico Burress' backup when Plax is a wrong step away from missing time due to his bum ankle.
David Tyree, who's listed next on the depth chart, is one of the best special teams guys in the NFL but can't catch a cold.
I bet there's possibly more going on here than we know...
can we get an update??
