Any word on Jacobs?

Wow Al Michaels just called Justin Tuck Jason, 1...2...3...4 times! And of course John Madden throws one in there for good measure.

Ouch, 34-19 Dallas! ABSOLUTELY NO FRIKIN DEFENSE WHAT SO EVER!!! Offense looks good though.

38-22! The phukin defense just keeps getting better!! What a g**damn disaster!

WAIT A MINUTE, 38-35. Hold your breath!!!

Breath held, and exhaled. Their D is awful, and it's been a consistent theme of the last six-seven years to give up big plays on 3rd-and-long.

And now, Eli, with perhaps one of his best games as a pro, is out with an injury.

Suffice to say, this is not a good start.

As usual, another pathetic performance by the defense. Embarrassing.

Eli looked great...

there D looked terrible...

It was a nice season while it lasted. Without Eli, the only thing left to discuss is who we should draft with the 1st overall pick in 2008.

Even if Eli is healthy and throws for 450 every week, they will still lose because the defense is horrible. Has been for awhile, and gets worst every year.

That Strahan feller is about as useful to this team as a piece of dog turd on the field. Why don't he just retire?

At what point are the Giants front office going to get a freakin secondary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every year it's the same thing. 3rd and 9, converted. 3rd and 11, converted. 3rd and 7 converted. 3 and 12...Touchdown! We haven't had a guy who can break up a play or make a big INT since Jason Sehorn.

Country-clubber is what Strahan is. Wants to get paid for doing no work and just showing up. Living off past rep. He can go f- himself.

And now, I should add, we have no pass rush either. Honestly...45 points to the Cowboys? I'm thinking this is a 3-13 season. Yes, I'll call it this early. That was almost as painful to watch tonight as their loss to the Titans last year.

Wait until Brady comes to town with Stallworth on one end and Randy Moss on the other.

Never mind that, wait until Favre comes to town next week!

I'm thinking that injury to Jacobs could be a blessing in disguise. Derrick Ward looked realy good tonight. He's fast, durable, and can protect the football. But we'll NEVER win with a defense like that..... NEVER! Cross your fingers and hope Eli's ok. We should find out Monday.

How long did it take to make an adjustment with the tight end tonight? Good job on your personnel gm-lb's look like dog-poo, lb experiment is a bust, pull harry carson out of retirement quickly!!!-Eli looked great, the d sucks!-pain-oh, the pain!

Exactly gmen79. You can't win in the NFL if your offense has to score 46 points in a game. Just isn't gonna happen. And it was a wasted night for a good offensive performance.
Watch...next week the D will stiffen, hold the Pack to 10 points and we'll lose 10-7

wow you poaters are pathetic.. teams adjust if the yhave brains. they will look at the tape and hopefully they are smart enough to make some adjustments.. man I forget how stupid fans are but reading these posts remind of that..

a few yrs ago new england got destroyed opening day by over 30 pts. they won the super bowl that yr..

Not time to blow brains out yet. Still early, last season the D was getting torched and stiffened up before the injuries mounted up in Dallas! This D will get together. Amazing thing is how people like Madden and Wallace Matthews can watch this game and turn it into a Tiki Love in. The offense didn't miss Tiki at all last night and the O line gave Eli plenty of time against the so-called constant pressure of the Dallas D. If this team is lacking in offense without Tiki it wasn't apparent last night. AT least wait for a game when they can't run the ball or score 20 points to bring up a Tiki fun fest. As to Jacobs lacking durability, how about letting him play some games first. Watch the film and it is obvious that 99 out of 100 backs would have suffered an injury on the play, his leg was up in the air and it got whipped around, has nothing to do with durability! What is necessary is some journalists who actually watch the game and have a modicum of understanding. Obviously Madden was pumping Tiki for NBC all night. Ridiculous to score 35 and lose by 10, pretty obvious where the fault lied for this game. Question is how does the D make the adjustments. 16 games is a long season and 8-9 wins gets a playoff position, let the season roll out before you bury this team.

What a bunch of alarmists!

Where are the real fans?

Anyone who is giving up on the season based on what you saw last night would probably knock people down running out of the door screaming 'fire' because the toaster was smoking.

Pu-leeze.

Common sense should tell you that this defense needs time to adjust. And a lot of the blame has to go to the injuries on the d-line.

Oh, what's the use of explaining?

What a bunch of wussies. "Oh, nooo, Eli bruised his shoulder - we're afraid!"

Go Big Blue!

We didn't give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Did we?

The Packers? DEAD! Niedermuller? DEAD!

-Big BB

Is it too early to call the Kiwanuka switch to linebacker a bust?

@Big BB

We're not basing our comments on last night alone. We're basing our comments on the fact that the same exact problems have existed for three years and nothing ever seems to change.

It's going to be a looong, agonizing year @ Meadowlands. Jets/Giants may not win 10 games combined!

The Defense was horrible. Offense did its part and then some. Eli, Plax, Shockey, Toomer, and even Derrick Ward looked good.

When is the Defense gonna play? Last year, same problem. No pressure. Guys running wide open. Can't happen. Kiwanuka can't guard a statue. He's not fast enough and clearly out of position. Other teams are going to feed off of this game film.

Aaahhhh.... BigBB, that was the Japanese, not the Germans that bombed PH. And as for Eli, you better be afraid if he does'nt come back 100% because this group will be in a world of sh!t fast. Next week we could give up only 7 points but only score 3. No-one knows after just one game.

I don't want to overreact to one loss -- it's a long season, but the defensive breakdowns were really troubling. No pressure on Romo. The corners couldn't cover anyone. And Kiwanuka looked lost all game -- terrible in coverage, broke contain many times. If this continues and Osi remains hurt Coughlin's got to but him back at end.

You guys have got to be kidding me. Losing Tiki was the best thing that could have happened to the Giants. Eli looked like a leader last night. Losing Jacobs for 5 weeks at the most hurts but he'll be back for the second go round of the divisionals. And guaranteed teams won't be ready for it. The D looked bad, but it's all adjustments, and getting Kiwi PT. it was only 1 play that burned us all night, a stupid dump over the middle. Get real, we all saw so Spags has too. Not to mention Pierce will make sure the adjustments gets made. We cut up a defense that was touted to be great this year. Do you honestly believe that the Packers or Eagles secondary stands a chance against Plax or Amani. Stray got through this "preseason" game and will be ready next week. The Pack attack is soft and the Eagles blew a winnable game. The Skins struggled with the quite possibly the worst team in the league this year. And we fought tooth and nail with the toughest team in the Division, missing our #1 back and DE. And Osi makes a huge difference in our pass rush which seem to be most of our problem. Romo had too much time. We had pressure in the first quarter and Romo threw the ball like the Eli of old; high, out of bounds, in the dirt. He was all over the place with his passes. Osi goes down, he has time in the pocket, and BAM!! Witten over the middle. Next time Witten will meet Kiwi over the middle. Let TC and the staff do their jobs this week and see how it goes week 2, I mean theres only 15 more games. What could we possibly do in 15 games. And if TC can't figure it out, send him down to Florida i'll straighten him out. Go Giants!

Arthur for the love of god give me an injury update. After Osi, Jacobs, and Eli got hurt I was actually expecting Toomer's leg to just fall off and Plax to spontaniously burst into flames. I cant remember the last time I watched this team play without at least one starter getting badly injured.

I got a few injury updates:

Osi is expected to miss at least two months.

Brandon Jacobs is expected to miss 3-5 weeks.

There has been no word on Eli's bruised throwing shoulder, but I don't see him sitting out against Green Bay. If he was capable of coming back into the game and throw his fourth touchdown, then I believe he'll be there Sunday afternoon.

This team will get it done right!! S.Spagnoulo has to realize the defense can't possibly get any worse, and like Shock said last night. That's probably the biggest test this team will see for a while anyway. Look at the Giants' performance last night compared to Wash and Philly(29 pts combined). The D has nowhere to go but up, and it will. And just pray that D. Ward can carry the ball like that every game(15 carries, 89 yds).
