A few items to toss out from a couple weeks off:
-- Attended today's OTA session, which didn't produce much in terms of concrete news, but certainly some tidbits. Amani Toomer (ACL surgery) spent the day jogging around the indoor field while his teammates worked out, and TC said that Toomer would be a one-a-day practice player in training camp.
-- Missing from the OTAs were Michael Strahan, Jeremy Shockey, Plaxico Burress and Jim Finn. Burress and Shockey spent a little over a week running routes with Eli Manning and dusted out before the OTAs began; is that enough? Who knows? Strahan has always been in and out of these things. And Finn -- can't speculate there, but if it's a show of unhappiness with the way the team has sought a new FB this offseason, it's not the way to show it.
-- First unit defense today was Adrian Awasom and Osi Umenyiora at DE (Justin Tuck is still rehabbing his Lisfranc joint sprain), Barry Cofield and Fred Robbins at DT, Mathias Kiwanuka, Antonio Pierce and Kawika Mitchell at LB, R.W. McQuarters and Sam Madison at CB and Will Demps and Gibril Wilson at S. McQuarters, by the way, shaved off his trademark dreads. Maybe he needs the speed. Rookie CB Aaron Ross stepped in at LCB and McQuarters slid into the nickel slot in that package.
-- David Diehl worked at LT with the first unit the whole day. Rich Seubert, the starting LG, recounted a chat with a fan at a charity event over the weekend. The fan asked Seubert if Diehl would be the tackle this season. "I hope so," Seubert says he told the fan. "That means I get to play more."
-- While on vacation, the Giants sent out a copy of a letter to season-ticket holders informing them of a new parking policy: With construction of the new stadium beginning, the Giants are losing 5,000 parking spots on the complex site. So every spot at the Meadowlands will be pre-paid, $150 per permit for every five season tickets held.
I doubt this sits well with everyone who comes to the games. Please write in to let me know your reaction.
OK, that's all for now. Miller's Crossing is on. Gotta split.

I don't how else they can handle the parking situation.
I have had season tickets with my dad since 1981 and we could not even get into the opening night game vs the Colts last year. We tried to park at the arena and we got stuck in a jam that did not move for over 1 1/2 hours....so we had to turn around to go home and watch on TV.
With 5k fewer spots this year...managementhad to be proactive. This measure will make folks car pool, which is not a bad thing in my opinion. For the non-season ticket holders, it is a unfortunate. Non-season ticket holders who buy tickets off e-bay, etc. will be shocked to realize that they can't get in without a season ticket permit...oh well...the resale value of giant tickets on the secondary market just went down.
Actually I think they should keep this policy in tact when the new stadium is built. That you only get a certain number of prepaid vouchers per number of season tickets one has. For example, you get two vouchers per game per four season tickets.
You can then transfer them when you sell your tickets. It would help limit the number of people who crowd the lots and don't go to the game. It may also limit the number of drunks driving home from the game. Just my view.
If R.W and Madison are starting, and in nickel R.W moves to nickel back...and Ross plays left corner, and madison plays right corner.......WHERE IS WEBSTER?? whats webster playing on?
gotta beleive the starting corners will be madison and either webster or Ross, with R.W playing his best position at nickel
How else could they have handled this? Easy.....they could have given the season ticket holders the licenses (in the ratios they require) and made them pay on game day.
Don't be surprised if this becomes mandatory for all season ticket holders in 2010.
I heard a rumor that Diehl can also play cornerback...

Good one!.......wouldn't surprise me if the source was Giants ownership and/or front office since they seem to think fans will believe whatever whopper they put out there.......
I have no issue with Finn staying home. If Newsday was actively seeking to replace you would you make a voluntary appearance on behalf of the paper? Finn is pissed at the effort and how it was handled.
