Many are wondering --with all your journalistic opinion making, cutting edge journalism--which coaching or scouting job you held...and was it in football...men's or women's?

For the past month the Giants have been duly unimpressive in all three phases of their game: defense, specials teams, and offense. Hopefully the Bills, who just beat the Redskins, and the loss-free Patriots, who will not be stopped by the G-men, will put an end to this shaky season. These two losses will allow the Giants to relax off the field rather than on it. It will also enable a playoff-caliber team a chance to win the big one.
The Giant debacle against the Redskins last night typifies a season of poor play-calling on both sides of the ball. First, the offense prefers to throw bombs all night long rather than assure the continuation of downs; what some call 'drives.' On 3rd and 3, 4, or 5 yards, Manning would fall back and threw wobbly passes to triple-covered receivers. John Madden' showed more play-calling acumen in his off-handed commentary than Gilbride showed after a full week of preparation. Spagnuolo puts his defense into 'prevent' mode (2 or 3 rushers) with a minute left in the half, resuling--of course--in a score.
I'll be impressed when Manning can score as many points for the Giants as he gives up. Maybe next year.
