Power rankings: Titans still No. 1
1. Titans (9-0) (1): Sorry, just can’t pull the trigger on moving the Titans out of the top spot. Can’t penalize them for beating a solid Bears team on the road and staying unbeaten. Big day for Kerry Collins as Bears shut down Titans' vaunted running game.
2. Giants (8-1) (2): T Rock believes the Giants are No. 1, but what do you expect from a homer beat writer? Maybe we’ll get the definitive answer about which team is truly No. 1 in February in Tampa.
3. Panthers (7-2) (4): Panthers hold serve against Raiders, even though Jake Delhomme has a miserable game. Hey, it happens.
4. Steelers (6-3) (3): Can’t drop Steelers too far even though they lose a tough one at home to Indy. This team is still very dangerous, especially when Big Ben can stay away from the interceptions that killed him against the Colts.
5. Buccaneers (6-3) (5): How good are the Bucs? We’ll get a better idea on Sunday at home against a Vikings team whose defense is finally starting to look good.
6. Patriots (6-3) (9): Pats get it done at home against Buffalo to set up battle for first on Thursday against Jetsies.
7. Ravens (6-3) (10): Rookie QB Joe Flacco keeps getting better. Duh …
8. Falcons (6-3) (12): Rookie QB Matt Ryan keeps getting better. Ok, I’m scuffling. What can I tell you?
9. Redskins (6-3) (7): Redskins heal up on bye and get ready for huge home game against Cowboys.
10. Colts (5-4) (15): Massive win for Colts in Pittsburgh, where they haven’t won since the days of Earl Morrall. (True story: Was listening to someone the other day refer to Morrall and pronounce it Mor-Al, with the accent on Al. I’m old.)
11. Cardinals (6-3) (11): Cardinals get lucky as Niners blow it on final drive. There will have to be a complete second-half meltdown for this team not to win the NFC West.
12. Jets (6-3) (16): Jets demolish woeful Rams to set up massive AFC East showdown in Foxboro on Thursday night. Bring on the hate!!!
13. Eagles (5-4) (6): Second-half comeback against Giants falls short as Eagles take massive step backwards. Looks like this will have to be wild card or bust.
14. Cowboys (5-4) (14): Tony Romo all set to return on the road against the Redskins. Pokes need him back in a big way.
15. Bears (5-4) (8): Rex Grossman can’t get it done at home against the unbeaten Titans. Good news is Kyle Orton ready to return.
16. Vikings (5-4) (20): Defense finally starts to look dominant, and Adrian Peterson looks like a locomotive. Now, if Gus Frerotte can stay away from the interceptions, the Vikes will be in fine shape.
17. Dolphins (5-4) (17): Dolphins find a way again, even though they struggle to put away Seahawks at home.
18. Broncos (5-4) (21): Massive comeback win in Cleveland keeps divisional hopes intact.
19. Packers (4-5) (13): Offensive line problems lead to two safeties against Vikings. Good news is they’re only a game out of first.
20. Bills (5-4) (18): Bills in crisis mode after losing four of their last five. NKR delighted.
21. Saints (4-5) (19): Drew Brees screams at Jeremy Shockey on the sidelines. What else do you need to know about the Aints?
22. Chargers (4-5) (22): Norv Turner squeaks past Chiefs, who lose it on failed two-point try. Incredibly, Bolts still only a game out of first in a terrible division.
23. Jaguars (4-5) (25): Jags rebound from crushing loss against previously winless Bengals to crush winless Lions.
24. Texans (3-6) (23): Texans remain mired in mediocrity.
25. Browns (3-6) (24): Browns’ season just about to go kerplunk – if it hasn’t already.
26. Seahawks (2-7) (26): Matt Hasselbeck returns from a back injury, but it’s too late.
27. 49ers (2-7) (28): One week, Mike Singletary drops his pants during a halftime speech. The next, his offense does the same in the final seconds against the Cardinals.
28. Bengals (1-8) (29): Bengals return from bye to face Iggles at home.
29. Chiefs (1-8) (30): Two days later, still can’t crush Herman Edwards for going for the win in San Diego with a two-point try in the final seconds. You play … to win … the game. Hey, the guy’s season is going nowhere. He’s on the road against a superior opponent. You take your shot and try to get the heck out with a win. It didn’t happen. We move on.
30. Rams (2-7) (27): Could the Rams beat Sachem High? Debatable.
31. Raiders (2-7) (31): Could the Raiders beat Sachem? Doubtful.
32. Lions (0-9) (32): Could the Lions beat Sachem? No way.
(Thanks for playing along, Sachem. Just have fun with it.)

Go with your gut Bob. The Giants are #1. It truly is amazing what they've accomplished, and I wonder what their record would have been had Coughlin rested his starters for that Sunday Night game against the Pats. I dont think they would have won the Super Bowl and I dont think they would be where they are now.
I'd like to see where you rate Eli Manning as a QB? Not this year, but from here going forward. You can include Brady.
For my money I'd want Brees, Brady, Peyton, Eli, Rivers. Though I just did it off the top of my head and maybe missing someone.
Only a slight gripe on this end, Bob.
Having the Cards above the Bretts, er, Jets is a little silly. While the Cardinals have done nothing but improve since that day, it should also be said that the Jets are really finding their own stride after their hiccup in Oakland.
I was referring to the jets win vs. the Cardinals, if there was any confusion.
Ok, so you think the Giants would win head to head.
And you still have the Giants picked to win the Superbowl.
But you have Tennesse ranked first.
Something doesn't add up, Bob...
Power rankings should be relative power of the teams, your reasons for picking Tennesse seem to add up to the "best season so far award."
I believe this statistic was referenced on the SNF telecast of the Giants-Eagles game. The last time that all of the teams in a division (NFC East) were above .500 after 9 games was 1935.
As for the Giants being #2, I am sure Coughlin is looking for all of the motivation he can get. I suspect he's no doubt surfing your blog while game-planning for the Ravens. Anyway, given your desire to increase page views, keeping the Giants number 2 is probably in your best interest. This way the national media can't paint you as having a NY bias.
Very smart on your behalf, I must say.

Oh, and Bob, you said somewhere that you and Best may be getting a show on MSG and need a title.
Well I have a suggestion.
"Two guys alone in a basement; Neil and Bob."
Atleast I know Islander505 will like that one.
