Maybe this kind of article can save newspapers

Readers in Philadelphia woke up this morning to advertisements for a new airline called Derrie-Air, a company that charges passengers by the pound and whose motto is something like "the more you weigh, the more you pay." horseass.jpg

The ad even directed readers to a website - www.flyderri-air.com

Cute.

Only one thing.

It was a joke, a classic case of made-you-look that Philadelphia Media Holdings, which owns the Inquirer and the Daily News, hoped would generate buzz.

Well, it generated plenty of buzz. Unfortunately, the papers are still bleeding as much red ink as they're producing black ink.

Nice try, anyway.

(If I were Neil Best, I'd post a picture of a nice human derriere with this story. I'll go with a horse's tush instead. It's Belmont week, after all.)

Thanks to jeffp for alerting us to this story.

What, you might ask, does this story have to do with football? Well, it came out of Philadelphia. The Eagles play there.

Go Big Brown.
