You are on the clock, people. Make your picks

It’s time.

BBiB! has his spreadsheets ready to go, so the “What About Bob” mock draft contest has officially begun.

Pick the top 10 overall, throw in the Giants’ pick at No. 31, and we’re in business.

No cash or prizes, since that means getting the Newsday lawyers involved. But we’ll offer up something even better: a guest blog post and a chance at 15 minutes of fame.

We’ll start it off:

1. Dolphins: Jake Long, T, Michigan.

2. Rams: Chris Long, DE, Virginia.

3. Falcons: Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU.

4. Raiders: Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas.

I'm guessing the G-men will take the best linebacker available among Rivers, Mayo and Connor, in that order, before they take a safety. I've seen Rivers mocked as high as 10 and as low as 31. Mayo seems to be getting more respect from scouts than Connor these days. If all 3 are gone? I don't know if anyone is convinced Phillips is 1st round talent anymore.

Bobby G - would you and Tom "wasn't he the fishing reporter?" Rock please get off the Gholston bandwagon. Workouts are just that: workouts. He's the next coming of Brian Thomas, Dewayne Robinson or Jeff Lageman. Let's get real here, if McFadden is not available the move is to trade down for some depth.

what about an honest discussion about hip hop?

Has anybody wondered what Cleveland is going to do about Brady Quinn? A 500 pound gorilla at backup QB is not going to happen. Would he be worth the sixth pick? Just how would Quinn look wearing green? That pick could turn the Browns into a contender, and give the Jets the QB they have sought for years. Why is no one talking about this?

Wow....just, wow.

It's almost as if many folks here have never, ever seen an NFL draft before. One of you guys didn't even have Jake Long in the top 10. Huh?
And the trade scenarios are straight-up insane. The #6 pick, a 4th rounder AND Coles for Chad Johnson?? Jeez, why not also give them Nick Mangold and Woody Johnson's daughter while you're at it? I hope you were joking. Chad can be had for, AT BEST, a mid to low-end 1st rounder. Someone else suggested trading the #6 pick for.....Brady Quinn? Ummm, you mean the guy the Jets passed on with the #14 pick last year? The BACK-UP quarterback of the browns? That Brady Quinn? So, your scheme is, instead of drafting him last year, the Jets should think, "Hey, why not offer a much, much higher pick for him this year! Brilliant!" The Browns would be doing cartwheels if that senseless deal were offered.

Hey, I know all mock drafts are just guessing games, and all of them are going to be wrong come Saturday, but at least put a BIT of thought into it. If you're new to this country and have never actually watched a pro football game before, please refrain from picking names out of a hat and letting us see your "mock" mock draft.

With that said: 1. MIA- Jake Long
2. STL- Glenn Dorsey

10. NYG: Ray Rice ***

***I was gonna go with Mike Cox...a fullback from Georgia Tech...imagine the difficulty that young man must go through

I listed Matt Ryan twice on purpose...it's all about the contest

This is real long shot, but I believe that Lane Kiffin can convince Al Davis to trade back in the draft (twice) and pick up a three later picks in the process. Ending up with both of Dallas 1st's the Jet's 1st and possibly the Jets 2nd (if not, then the Jets 4th)

Jets take the Raiders 4th to Get Matt Ryan
Oakland then trades the 6th to Dallas for both of Dallas 1st rounders so that Dallas gets McFadden

I know, I know - but hey, if it happens I look like a genius :-)

Here they are:

1. Dolphins - Jake Long, OT, Michigan
2. Rams - Chris Long, DE/OLB, Virginia
3. Falcons - Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
4 Jets from Raiders - Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
5. Chiefs - Brandon Albert, G, Virginia
6. Cowboys from Raiders (orig Jets) - Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
7. Patriots - Vernon Gholston, LB, Ohio State
8. Ravens - Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas
9. Bengals - Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
10. Saints -Keith Rivers, OLB, USC

31/32. Giants -DeSean Jackson, WR, Cal

BNG
You look like a genius to me just by thinking all that stuff up

Hookslide,

Mock drafts are such a crapshoot.

For instance, this is what I would do if I put myself in the position of each GM. However in Herms Edwards case, for instance, he's always undervalued good Offensive Linemen, so say he passes on Albert and grabs Vernon Gholston, LB, Ohio State - that throws everything from #7 down into disarray.

BtW, I know Carl Peterson is the Chiefs GM, but I have to think Herm holds 50% of the decision at this point. (Not for much longer I hope) - I think Herms the NFL's equivalent of Mad Mike Milbury, a guy everyone thinks knows the game, but who's just really good at avoiding the blame for his own bad decisions.

1.) Dolphins--------- Jake Long, OT, Michigan
2.) Rams------------- Chris Long, DE, Virginia
3.) Falcons---------- Glen Dorsey, DT, LSU
4.) Raiders----------- Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio State
5.) Chiefs-------------- Brandon Albert, OT, Virginia
6.) Jets----------------- Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
7.) Patriots------------ Ryan Clady, OT, Boise State
8.) Ravens------------- Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
9.) Bengals------------ Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
10.) Saints-------------- Keith Rivers, OLB, USC
31.) Giants-------------- Jerod Mayo, LB, Tennessee

New Orleans will try to make a move up and get one of the DT's in the draft probably with the Pats and select Sedrick Ellis. I don't think they will be able to move in the top three for Dorsey.
The Ravens will make a move for Ryan if they feel he will not fall to them
