This is kind of like a solar eclipse. It simply doesn't happen very often.

But if you check the Newsday blogs, you will see that Rock is blogging about the Jets AND the Giants. In fact, he is the beat writer for both teams - sort of - for the next 72 hours.

(Best thing about Rock: He lets me do a look-a-like of him and Uncle Fester.)

The official handoff of the Jets beat to Erik Boland (EBoli, as we like to call him) is on Monday. Rock then "officially" takes over the Giants the same day.

So check both blogs as the draft approaches, and see what both dudes have to say about your favorite New York football teams.

As for Stapler, he has moved on to bigger and better things, writing columns, covering the pucks, and covering college hoops. Surely he'll think of his old wingman with the Giants now that he'll be seeing plenty of Tom Crean. In the meantime, check out his work on the Rangers-Devils series. It's a little after 4:30 p.m., and he's got the lede column on the website praising Rangers coach Tom Renney.
