My two cents: Carlos Delgado blew it

Not that it's any of my business to comment about Carlos Delgado on a football blog, but ...delgado.jpg

Why in the world would a guy snub the fans of New York who were offering a standing ovation in hopes of a tip o' the cap from the top step of the dugout, this after Delgado smacked two homers at Shea yesterday?

So what if the fans booed him the day before. It's sports. It's New York. Get over yourself.

Talk to Alex Rodriguez and ask him about this sort of thing.

In the meantime, check out Newsday's "Final Score" blog for complete coverage of the Delgado snub.

...

ok, I'll go back to being a football writer now.

how 'bout the Seahawks getting Cal running back Justin Forsett in the seventh round. Great value!!

Hey, he got his point across didn't he? How else does a ball-player make his point without whining to some beat reporter and then having that beat reporter sound like a whiner himself (See also: Arthur Staple - NY Rangers / Crosby hater) :-) :-)

Just kidding Arty, you did my Penguins good by providing that bulletin board fodder .. what are you going to give us for game 3? :-)

"Why in the world would a guy snub the fans of New York who were offering a standing ovation in hopes of a tip o' the cap from the top step of the dugout, this after Delgado smacked two homers at Shea yesterday?"

Better question(s) to ask..........
A/Why would the "fans of New York" even offer a standing ovation "in hopes of a tip o' the cap" to a guy who is hitting .205, has more strikeouts than RBI's, has the same amount of strikeouts as hits, tripled his HR production yesteday from a measly 1 to a paltry 3, hit his 2nd home run yesterday IN THE SEVENTH INNING which was not like a Walk Off or anything dramatic, AND HAS PRETTY MUCH BEEN HAVING A LOUSY SEASON so far.
Given the smart-aleck attitudes that some NY fans are capable of exhibiting....one COULD draw a conclusion that the standing O yesterday was derisive and comparable to cheering a hockey goalie for making a save after 3 failures.
And WHAT THE HELL IS SO MEANINGFUL ABOUT THE "TIP O' THE CAP" AT THIS STAGE OF THE SEASON?
Christ, there's 140 games left.......GET A GRIP PEOPLE.
It may take another 24 games for Delgado to hit another.
Applaud him for what he did yesterday....and MOVE THE HELL ON.

B/WHY, oh WHY, should any fan expect something IN RETURN (a tip o' the cap) for a standing ovation?
Can't "fans" simply be satisfied with the feat they have just witnessed and SHOW SOME APPRECIATION without expecting something back?

Or is that type of behavior not acceptable in the world that you and your boys Rieber and Baumbach occupy?

Just my opinion.....there is no way I am wrong.
You guys are NUTS.
