The Jets were not at Matt Ryan's workout

Here's a report on Matt Ryan's workout at Boston College's pro day earlier today.

btw, the Jets did not send any representatives to the workout.

That does not mean they are not interested, because not every team sends scouts and/or coaches/general managers to workouts. But when you pick sixth overall and you have a potential need at quarterback, it's generally a good idea to watch these things. Then again, the Jets might simply want a private workout for Ryan.

But again, it just doesn't happen all the time. Several years ago, the Broncos made linebacker John Mobley their first round pick, and they hadn't given the slightest indication they had any interest in him.

The Giants did attend today's workout, but they were looking at Boston College tackle Gosder Cherilus, according to M. Garafolo.

Also in attendance: Chiefs coach Herman Edwards, who is sticking with Brodie Croyle as his starter, but obviously hasn't ruled out an upgrade if one's available.

Edwards said after the workout that Ryan pressed a bit on a couple of throws. Then again, it's in Edwards' interest to make it seem as if Ryan couldn't throw his way out of a paper bag. After all, the Chiefs have the fifth overall choice, meaning they potentially face plenty of competition for Ryan.

What better way to make him fall than to create the perception that he might not be as good as advertised.
