Look, I'm just trying to make an honest living covering the NFL, typing up blog posts, and beating my brains out trying to beat Neil Best in our monthly page views war.
But I was just referred to Phil Hughes' blog and realize that my life - mostly my blogging life - is something akin to Sisyphus pushing the rock up the mountain, only to see it roll back down.
I don't know what Hughes' page views totals are, but I can see by the number of comments he draws from breathless Yankees fans that it's light years ahead of our friendly little Newsday blogs that Best and I do.
Sigh.
In the meantime, we bring you a look-a-likes from our upstate New York blog pal Tony Arnoldine of Yankees rookie pitcher Ian Kennedy and Alfred E. Neuman of MAD Magazine. Arnoldine got the Kennedy pic from Hughes' blog. Apparently the two pitchers are pretty tight.
(I don't know if there even is a MAD Magazine any more, but I do know that Best and I could walk into the local stationary store back in the day and pick one up. It was a hit back then, when a Snickers bar cost a dime.)

I guess it's kind of like with Paris Hilton. She gets movie roles because she's famous, even though she isn't really an actress.
Hughes has it easy, a pitcher in blogger's clothing. But it is nice to see an athlete embrace the blogosphere, like Gilbert Arenas has already done.
And I'm not sure if there is a MAD magazine anymore either, but I know it was definitely better than their TV show.
jeffp: hmmmm.

I guess it's a net positive that Hughes has embraced the blogosphere, although I suspect that at some point, it will not do him any favors.
Completely agreed on the MAD show. Maybe a couple of good skits along the way, but not enough to kick out Seinfeld re-runs on Saturday night, that's for sure.
