Just heard Chris Mortensen on ESPN First Take report that Favre left a message on Mort's answering machine and sounded as if he is, in fact, done.
"He said it's not about Randy Moss, it's about being mentally worn down, the wear and tear of the season," Mortensen said. "Physically, he said he can still play. What are the odds? They’re long for almost anybody. He's just not prepared to go through the mental wear and tear. He said that’s not the driving reason why he retired.
"It sounded absolute. It didn’t sound like maybe he wanted to change his mind. He said he’s finished. This is more abut the mental wear and tear about what it takes to be a champion. He's just not prepared to do that any more."
