The Giants are delighted at adding depth at safety with Sammy Knight, but he's still going to have to battle for a starter's job.
Right now, it's James Butler and Michael Johnson. But if Knight shows the kind of veteran savvy the Giants believe he has, there's a good shot he is in the mix, if not in the starting lineup.
Any way you slice it, though, this is a very good signing. A quality veteran at an affordable price after losing a free agent who has been swallowed up by the Black Hole.
