Hall deal very close in Oakland

A deal has yet to be finalized, but Falcons disgruntled cornerback DeAngelo Hall could be a Raider pending resolution of contract negotiations.

There are multiple reports that a trade has been agreed upon (a second-round pick from the Raiders), but the deal is contingent on Hall getting a contract. Hall told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution last night that a deal had not been reached, although reports indicate he was in Oakland on Friday to take a physical.

Whatever the case may be, the Giants are obviously not a part of the Hall sweepstakes, despite Hall's claim that they remain interested. The Giants would be interested if Hall lowered his asking price from the nearly $10 mil per year he's seeking. But Hall is looking for a deal in that neighbhorhood, which means the Giants are out of the running.

They're simply not going to engage in a bidding war for a player, regardless of his talent level. Too much risk of creating locker room issues on a team that could have some contract issues of its own (Osi Umenyiora, Plaxico Burress) before long.

From rotoworld:

The Falcons reportedly asked for RB Danny Ware during talks about a trade that would've sent DeAngelo Hall to the Giants.
The Giants reportedly backed out of the deal because they didn't want to give Ware up. A physically gifted runner, Ware nearly made the Jets last summer, but he's struggled to stay healthy. It appears the Giants will keep him on the roster as a fourth-stringer. That would spell the end for Reuben Droughns.
