David Carr visiting Giants

The Giants will visit with former No. 1 overall pick David Carr tomorrow and Wednesday. It's not certain whether they'll sign Carr, who has been a major disappointment throughout his career with Houston and then Carolina, where he was beaten out last year by 44-year-old Vinny Testaverde and undrafted free agent Matt Moore.

The Giants had expressed some interest in Trent Green, but he's off the market, having signed with St. Louis.

If the Giants are looking for a real seasoned veteran, I heard Jeff George was still looking to make a comeback.

Seriously though, why Carr? What about a more trustworthy backup like Tim Rattay or Gus Frerotte?

Tony... not Ford City's Gus Ferotte.... I wouldn't count him in your top 5 ... and I'm a 'homer'

Good call, Black N Gold. Besides, the G-Men don't need any head-first dives into the Meadowlands walls.

I am actually ok with Carr. Maybe with the right coaching, he can be a very successful backup in the NFL. Also, with a solid offensive line, maybe he can be a more productive passer. I think it is worth the risk if they dont have to pay a fortune.

How about Kerry Collins???????? I'm ok with Carr as well Mark but let's face it, he didn't exactly endear himself to the Giants Stadium faithful when he mocked the jump shot...

Andrew:

Aside from giving Neil Best a few more blog posts, Kerry Collins doesn't make much sense. Besides, he's still with the Titans.

Well, I just realized that Chris Palmer actually coached David Carr for four years before leaving the Texans. SO I guess an entirely new coaching staff isnt here for him. My fault. I still am ok with him playing here. Even if he did the jump shot once in poor judgement.
