We conducted an impromptu "Name That Catch" competition in a previous post, and you came up with some fantastic nicknames for the Eli Manning-to-David Tyree completion that was the signature play from Super Bowl XLII.
Unfortunately, none of those names matched the one that came out of the Newsday.com competition.
I know we're supposed to be a team player on this stuff, but I was left a bit disappointed by the winner: Destiny's Catch.
I dunno. Just kinda dweeby, that's all.
We move on.

It's very dweeby. But really, its like a joke. If you have to explain it and if it doesn't come naturally, then its not funny. I dont think this catch should have a name. (Though I dont know how Hail Manning didn't win)
I'd have been happy with "Hail Manning" or "Catch 42"
"Destiny's Catch" sounds like a Disney movie.
Since it was Eli to David...The Biblical Pass seemed apropos.
I can say nothing fit to print in response to that choice.
100% lame. Not even remotely meaningful.
You don;t have any newsday readers that work on Madison Ave?
:-)
"Destiny's Catch" sounds like something that usually has "M.P" (for Market Price) listed next to it on a menu.
