Wallace Matthews lets Belichick have it

Apparently we weren't alone in our belief that Patriots coach Bill Belichick should have stayed on the field for the final play of Super Bowl XLII, the one where Eli Manning took a kneel-down with one second to play.

Matthews excoriated Belichick for leaving the field before the final play, and in much harsher language than we used in a previous blog post.

For what it's worth, I talked to several writers after the game about Belichick leaving the field, and it was just about unanimous that folks thought he should have stayed. And I'm talking about writers who have generally been in Belichick's corner on most issues - as we are.
