It's official: Gibril will hit open market

Just heard back from Alvin Keels, the agent for impending Giants free agent safety Gibril Wilson. Keels tells me the Giants have made a strong effort to retain Wilson, but that they will test the free agent market, which opens at 12:01 a.m. Friday.

Translation: He's gone.

It's almost inconceivable that a team won't shell out huge dollars for Wilson - Philly and Jacksonville have been mentioned as potential suitors. And the Giants, while willing to give Wilson a respectable deal, simply won't go outside the parameters they've established.

Keels had nothing but great things to say about the Giants, so my impression is that he'd take a deal he gets from another club and at least run it by Big Blue before proceeding.
