If Spagnuolo bolts, Giants could go with Capers

The Giants are waiting to see how Steve Spagnuolo's interview goes with the Redskins and whether Washington offers him a job, possibly as soon as today.

If Spags does go to the Redskins, don't be surprised to see Tom Coughlin go after Dom Capers as his next defensive coordinator.

Capers worked under Coughlin in Jacksonville, and he's now considering whether to join the Cowboys' staff as a defensive assistant. The Cowboys were also looking at former Redskins defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, but he's off the market after signing on as Jacksonville's d-coordinator.

Best case scenario for the Giants is if Spagnuolo stays and gets to work wtih a defense that blossomed into one of the most dominating in the NFL. But Capers certainly a viable alternative in case Spags joins Dan Snyder's circus in Washington.

Do the Giants have a love affair with former Steeler Defensive coordinators? Tim Lewis didn't work out so well, what makes them think capers will.... maybe they should try and lure Jim Haslett away from St. Louis
