We almost choked on our laptop last night when we heard that Giants free agent safety Gibril Wilson would get a deal between $6-$6.5 million per season with the Raiders. In fact, we didn't believe it, although we trusted our source and went with it in today's Newsday.
Well, it's true.
Wilson has accepted a six-year deal worth $39 million with the Raiders, according to multiple media reports. If we're doing the math correctly, that's $6.5 mil per year.
Oh ... my ... goodness.
No wonder the Giants had no intention of coming close to that offer.
See ya.

Wilson going to Oakland really sucks, but Mitchell is the one I'd like to keep with the Giants. Too bad he's in Buffalo now! Lito sheppard or Sheldon Brown should be targeted since Samuel signed with the eagles today.
Bob, do any of the Raiders signing look like fair value? Seems like they overpaid substantially in every case. Logical, a piss poor franchise run by a madman in decline. Much as I will miss him, I am happy for Wilson. He got the ring, now he gets overpaid.
Fair value? No. Overvalued, for sure, but that's the price you pay when you are an awful team.
I guess it's ok to be happy for Wilson. But he's a very young player and even with all those millions, he still wants to win. Ain't gonna happen in Oakland.
