DeAngelo Hall on the block. Are Giants interested?

Aside from looking at all the draft-eligible hopefuls in Indianapolis, teams are talking to one another about potential trades. And one of the biggest talkers involved Falcons disgruntled cornerback DeAngelo Hall, a former first-round pick who has expressed an interest in being traded.

Our buddy Mike Garafolo of the Star-Ledger reports the Giants appear willing to swap their first-round pick (31st overall), which has created quite a buzz among Giants fans on this snowy day in the New York area.

But the Giants will have plenty of competition if they choose to get involved in trade talks here. The Redskins and Cowboys are also interested. And a league source familiar with the Giants' situation tells us the Falcons are shopping Hall to all 31 teams in an effort to gain maximum value if they do make a trade.

One complicating factor in all this: While there's no question Hall is one of the elite corners in the game, he has just one year remaining on his contract. So any deal - especially involving a first-round pick (and we're told it will take at least that much to get him) - will require Hall agreeing to terms on what could be a blockbuster contract extension.

Giants GM Jerry Reese might be willing to invest heavily in Hall, but not if it's going to jack up the price too much. Consider: He was in serious negotiations to sign free agent guard Leonard Davis last year, but dropped out of the running when Jerry Jones of the Cowboys threw a ton of money into a signing bonus.

Reese will certainly keep his ears open on this one, but the Falcons will certainly be driving a hard bargain now that they've decided their best player is no longer in the team's future.
