Chad Johnson to the Redskins = unbeaten season in '08
The Washington Post is reporting that, according to sources, the Redskins are interested in trading for Bengals disgruntled wide receiver Chad Johnson.
To which we say this: If the Redskins pull it off, it would undoubtedly shift the balance of power in the NFC East, and the Giants would almost certainly be unable to repeat as Super Bowl champions, much less make the playoffs. 
You put Johnson with the Redskins offense, then I say we're talking a team that is capable not only of going 16-0 in the regular season, but doing one better than the Patriots and rolling to a 19-0 record.
No matter that the Redskins have a rookie coach in Jim Zorn.
Or that the team is $16 million over the salary cap and would have to renegotiate contracts and probably cut a few players to bring Johnson aboard, especially if they sign him to a new deal.
Or that the Giants are coming off a stirring run to the Super Bowl championship that included one of the greatest upsets in NFL history.
Forget that the Redskins have gone through draft picks during the Daniel Snyder era like a parent goes through diapers for a newborn.
This is it. This is the guy. Johnson is the final piece for the Redskins.

It's just that, you know, I'm actually starting to feel for these poor Redskins fans who have to endure this kind of nonsense now that Snyder and personnel chief Vinny Cerrato are in the process of undoing all the good that Joe Gibbs left behind after re-retiring last month. After four years of watching Gibbs restore some credibility to the franchise, even if he had only one playoff win to show for it, the Redskins have descended back into the abyss.
When they get out is anyone's guess. Snyder is still very young, so my hunch is that it will not be any time soon.

Outstanding, one of your best posts to date. Re Zorn, I think fans rage will come back to bit them. Synder boxed them into a poor field, their antics opened the door for Vinny's power play. His puppet is in place, unless Zorn is holding space for a Cowher hire (a typical idiotic Synderesque plan), this is a debacle.

The 'Skins, if it weren't for the Raiders, would be the laughing stock of the NFL.
When you consider Miami, The Atlanta Felons, Detroit, and Warden Marvin Lewis inability in Cinci, that's a pretty big accomplishment.

I hope this post is a joke. A team that made the playoffs as a 6th seed last year with a still young QB with a lot to prove, a still fragile RB and a new coach going 19-0? Please. How come they couldn't find a coach if this was such a juicy opportunity? They had to promote the just hired OC.

I hope the Redskins have aspirations for an undefeated season. That would allow the NY Giants another chance to make history in back to back years by defeating a team destined for perfection. I think the Redskins need more that Ocho Cinco for the Super Bowl. They just replaced their whole coaching staff. What makes you think everyone will mesh. Good Luck with your trade and hope to see you in the playoffs this year. I know the G-MEN will be there as strong as this past year!! Oh by the way, money doesnt buy championships, loyalty, leadership, and confidence does.... Chad has only one of those and it costs alot of money!!
You know what, I think that they would be a very good team with Ocho Cinco. They have a strong running game and decent QB. Throw in an All-Pro receiver, you have contention. They will challenge the Giants and the Cowgirls, but you still have to wait and see how that plays out. On paper, it looks good.

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. If you think an overrated receiver will push a team that didn't even come close to winning the NFL's JV league, you are an idiot. They are mediocre at best and would not be above .500 in the AFC even with Ocho Cinco.

I woud like to keep Chad happy in Cincy but if he becomes a skin you guys are in for a treat. Lets just hope if he does become a skin that he doesnt end up doing a complete flip like he did in Cincy. Not long ago he wanted to be a Bengal for life. I think a first round pick is more than reasonable for a player of his caliber (of course I am speaking of the his play on the field).

Even if the Redskins got Chad Johnson they still wouldn't even make the playoffs the Redskins had a whopping 4 game winning streak into the playoffs and got beat by the Seahawks and they get over hypeD by people because the players thought they were possessed by Sean Taylor R.I.P. but even if they got to the playoffs they would be out in the first round and whats the point of getting a great receiver like Chad Johnson if you don't have a good QB and I would like to state that Jason Campbell isn't that good

The redskins still wont be good. Getting one player will do nothing. Not to mention they will have no money and crappy draft picks so they cant get anyone else. They cant afford this move. I see him going to the eagles before the skins. Eagles are 30 mil UNDER the cap. Redskins are 16 mil over. Chad would be useless with a halfway decent qb anyway. Yeah face it, campbell is not that good. Chad wants to be on a team that can win.

That said, while celebration is in order, immense ego is not. The team didn't look very good against the Skins at the Meadowlands late in the season. They also squeaked by the Skins in week 3.
It was a fun Super Bowl to watch, and a great win; kudos for that. The Giants are hardly a dominant team, and will definitely have competition for the NFC East title next year. Now, will that come from the Skins? Maybe not, because Snyder did turn back the clock on them yet again (potentially - to be fair, it remains to be seen).
