... and all we can think about is what's going through Black N Gold's mind. Especially after he now admits to BETTING AGAINST HIS BELOVED TEAM!!
The Steelers are down by five, 28-23, with 8:43 left in the fourth quarter.
This could be a life-changing moment for one of our favorite blog readers.
(UPDATE: The Steelers have just gone ahead, 29-28. No worries, B N G. This is a very forgiving blog. At least on our end. I cannot speak for Big Ben is Back! or Hookslide.)
(FINAL UPDATE: The Jaguars have pulled off an incredible 31-29 win. I will leave Steelers fans to their misery. We are here for you. Feel free to vent below.)

OK.. I'll admit with the Steelers up 29-28 and 4:11 left on the clock... I'm feeling a bit conflicted right now :-)
But Jags have 3 T.O's and a lot of time here
Is that you, B N G? Listed as anonymous, but that smiley face looks like yours.
The comment above, by Anonymous, is mine.
There's a difference between rooting for your team, which I am, and having no faith in them... which - against this team, with as many injuries as my Steelers do, I just can't fake confidence.
I would never root against my team, but I won't drink the cool aide either..
I'll me the first one to gladly take my lumps tonight if they pull this out.
Better be careful, B N G. I'm sure that BBiB!, fresh off a victory in the Comment Contest, is sharpening the scalpel in preparation for a surgical slice and dice. Even if the Steelers lose, I have a feeling he's gonna let you have it, my man.
maybe so... but which one of us was right?
Hmm, great playoff game, it put all that BCS nonsense to shame. Little Ben the motorcycle boy looked a lot like a confused Eli for a chunk of the game, amusing.
Rule one of fandom: Never, ever bet against your own team. Leave the game alone if you have to, but never bet against them. The anonymous comment saying the Jags have 3 TOs left is just wrong. Painfully wrong. Salt in the wound of us true fans BNG.....ouch. Rule 2: If you're going to break Rule 1, never admit it.
The fantom holding call on the first 2 pt. conversion attempt was a killer but frankly, Tomlin deserved that. Do NOT chase points that early in the game (8+ minutes to go, down 5 is not the time to go for 2). They had scored every time they touched the ball in the 2nd half, why go for 2 -- especially from the 12 yard line!? Bad, bad call. And, the ultra-conservative QB sweep on 3rd and 6 with 3 minutes left sealed their fate. Ben was hitting all of his passes in the 2nd half. Tomlin couldn't have dialed up a quickout or a slant there to get the first down and extend the season for one week? Aaargh.
I find it interesting that there are many fans, perhaps most, who agree with BBiB's comments about never picking against the team you support.
I'd agree with that if the comment was "NEVER root against..." An example being Jets fans rooting against their team winning the last few games to 'earn' a higher pick in the draft.
But to never PICK against your team is not a well thought out position.
If I give four touchdowns to your opponent, are you saying that you would always bet your team minus the 28?
Again, there's a big difference between betting against your team and rooting against them.
agreed, except when it prompts the fan to be conflicted as you were. I don't think it's humanly possible to bet on one outcome and openly root for another. Were you rooting for yourself to lose the bet?
Actually, honestly I was, it wasn't much of bet. Unless you think the a bit of the cost of a pepperoni pizza with your 20 year old step son, is a major bet.
BNG,
I deserve to give you an apology. BG clearly ws stirring the pot with his comments and I fell for it. I thought you put money on the game (like, with a book). A bet for a pizza is absolutely fine and I can see how you could root against yourself on that one. Hope that free pie was tasty!
BBiB!
No Worries BBiB!
Seems it's the season for Big Ben apologies.
I was disappointed to see that while the real Ben took the bullet for the Steelers loss Mike Tomlin would not admit to having made an "in-game" coaching errors.
I like Tomlin, but wish he would admit to his fallibility.
