Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo didn't want to discuss the Falcons' request two weeks ago to interview him for their vacant head coaching position, nor does he want to even think about anything other than the Green Bay Packers right now.
But there appears to be continued interest in Spagnuolo from the Falcons, especially now that Jason Garrett has decided to remain with the Cowboys instead of take an offer with either Baltimore or Atlanta.
The team has put off any final decision about a coach until at least next week, and possibly beyond that. If the Giants lose in Green Bay, the team will be free to interview Spagnuolo. But if the Giants win, they'd have to wait until after the Super Bowl, according to league rules. Because the Giants are a wild card team, a first interview would have had to occur after the wild card week. Because this would be Atlanta's first interview with Spagnuolo, it would have to be after the Super Bowl, even though there is a bye week between the conference championships and the Super Bowl.
