Pity the poor officials!

I was going through some pictures on Google that might be appropriate for a cold-weather posting, when I came across this one. It's Bart Starr's quarterback sneak that beat the Cowboys in the 1967 Ice Bowl, that legendary NFC Championship Game at Lambeau Field.

We've read all about the players freezing that day. And the fans, too. But check out the officials. I'm sure they had some clothes on underneath their uniforms, but my goodness, they must have been absolutely, positively frozen by the time that game was over.

Heck, they were probably frozen by the time it started!

(btw, my wife is about to walk in the door and ask if I've gotten the cold cuts I said I would get on my way home. I guess I'll just have to tell her I was writing something on deadline. And considering the addictive nature of these blogs, combined with a 24-hour news cycle that my business has morphed into, I wouldn't be wrong.)

First of all, you are not in Green Bay yet?

Karl:

Don't you worry about me getting to Green Bay, my friend. I will be there to chronicle all the goings-on.

In the meantime, you can bask in the glow of your comment contest victory today.

Yes I am very excited about being mentioned as a loyal reader.
It's one of the best things to happen in my life.

Why are they all so tall and skinny in that picture?
