We've got a pretty strong contingent of Steelers fans on this blog, so I just wanted to keep you up to speed on the latest goings-on in your town.
You no doubt are aware of the rash of injuries along the offensive line - no Marvel Smith, no Max Starks, which might mean playing Alan Faneca at tackle - but there's another injury problem on the horizon.
Safety Troy Polamalu is still bothered by a sore knee that has dogged him for much of the season, and it's no lock that he'll be in the lineup for tomorrow night's game against the Jaguars.
(UPDATE: Polamalu did practice yesterday, and it looks like he'll be a go for tonight. Wonder if Black N Gold is still pouting about how his beloved 'Lers are gonna lose, even if Polamalu is in the lineup.)

It won't make a difference anyway, Steelers don't match up well against Jacksonville even when they're healthy. Del Rio always seems to get his team up for games against the Steelers.
As I've stated previously, winning the division and getting to the playoffs this year was an improvement over last year and was a great effort by a first year coach, Anything more would just be gravy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I hear you Hook... you're eleven years old again, right?
Wow, B N G. I've never seen you so fatalistic. I'm sure Hook is noticing, but BBiB! must be beside himself over this.
How do you think those two guys who used to buy a season ticket just for the beer would feel about this? You need to rally, my friend.
That's right, BG, Never give up the ship. While I agree with BNG that this was already a successful season, I am not OK with losing another home playoff game. It's happened too many times and I say this is the game Tomlin launches his career with (sorry about the sentence ending with a preposition) . The 'Lers win because of some new wrinkle the staff puts in. Maybe it's 9 in the box. Maybe it's 2 DL, 5 LBs, and 4 DBs. Maybe it's 5 wide on offense and no huddle all night long. Maybe they duct tape Antony Smith to his locker so he can't dress. Somehow, someway they figure this one out. Then we lose to the Pats next week and call it a successful season.
Oh, and in case you forgot, then the Chargers beat the Pats in the AFC Championship Game.
Those guys used to watch Steelers teams that habitually finished at the bottom of the standings so I'm sure they'd be in their glory watching a playoff bound Steelers team if they were alive today.
I'm not fatalistic, just being a realist.
Maybe it's the lessons I've learned from the highs and lows of being a WVU mountaineer fan over the last 30 years. Just ask your buddy Adam how that's been killing me this past month. :-)
I meant to ask you a question about your vote for the "Coach of the year".
Can you name a man who won four super bowls and yet never was named "Coach of the year"?
That right there (and the fact that Haslett won it in 2000) tells me all I need to know about that award.
That BG, always the alarmist:
BG, doing your best Chicken Little impersonation? :-)

B N G:
Chuck Noll.
... me the alarmist?! Hey, the guy has practiced once in two weeks! ... oh, and now you're all gung ho on your Steelers again? Or are you still crying into your Terrible Towel BEFORE the game? Buck up, B N G. And if it helps any, put your Huggies on before the big game.
(I love that line about the Huggies. It's a Parcells-ism from way back. Before a big game in the late '80s, he was hanging out in the press room with the writers, and he asked one of them, "Hey, you got your Huggies for this game?" One of the best lines ever.)
Nope, still predicting a jaguars victory. In fact it's the first time I've ever had a bet with my 20 Year old step-son that the Steelers would lose.
Of course, I also had Oklahoma giving -14 over my beloved WVU this past week, and we know how that turned out.
I'm starting to think my teams do better when I pick against them.
