... if for no other reason than providing an excuse to post yet another picture of the lovely Jessica Simpson.
(Hey, posting pictures of pretty women got Neil Best a Publisher's Award, so I guess he was onto something.)
Anyway, T.O. now says he was joking when he suggested that Simpson was not welcome at Cowboys' games after she was on hand for boyfriend Tony Romo's three interception clunker against the Eagles on Sunday.
"I was just kind of explaining to [Romo] what kind of happened during the course of the [interview] session," Owens said. "I kind of told him what was said, and he kind of expressed what Jessica had told him. I was like, 'Look, dude, it wasn't meant like that. Everybody was having fun, and I was saying what I had to say. There it is, it's a big story."'
Owens said he didn't think there was a problem between he and Romo. Then again, considering T.O.'s track record of controversy and conflict with his quarterbacks, anything's possible.

Bob,
Now that you've got me riled up with your Steelers' comments and this stupid security system that makes me refresh the page before posting for a second time, I feel obligated to tell you that many other outlets (ESPN.com, MSNBC.com for example) had this story as originally a "tongue-in-cheek' or 'playful' comment. Other outlets, NewsDay included, took the story, eliminated the word 'playful' and tried to mkae this a bigger story than it should have been -- and I can't stand T.O. so this is no defense of him.
I know it gave you a reason to post a Jessica S. picture and for that I thank you, but it was a non-story from the beginning.
My lucky, security number is 302820
Might have been a joke, BBiB!, it's T.O. so it's news. Always news.
Now, can you imagine what happens if this thing blows up in his face? Ms. Simpson really was ticked by it, she told her boyfriend, and her boyfriend talked to T.O. about it.
Given T.O.'s incredible ability to alienate himself from every single quarterback he's ever played for (ok, he got along with Steve Young, but he wasn't T.O. back then), it's never a non-story.
But thanks for the journalism lesson, Mr. 302820.
But Ms. Simpson was only offended because it was reported as a"real" comment. Everyone in America who has half a brain said the same thing (heck, I nominated Jessica as Defensive Player of the Week on this very site -- back when posting was security code free -- for stopping Romo and I only have 1/2 a brain most days.).
"Thanks for the journalism lesson" ??? Not very Merry of ya BG.
My boss would probably like it if I gave this much effort to my work today. But I've been eating chocolate covered pretzels and pistachios all morning and am bouncing off the walls.
Lastly, before it becomes trendy, the 2008 Super Bowl matchup is..........San Diego(!) over whoever the NFC pretends is their best team.
Ho Ho,

Sorry if I came off as being snarky, BBiB! Not my intention.
A bit of a rough day yesterday and today, what with the car breaking down just outside of Bristol, Ct. and having to hitch a ride home with Jay Crawford. A story for another day and another blog post.
Glad to hear you're goofing off. It's the only way to be. In fact, goofing off is very good for blog journalism, as you well know.
... so, just for the record, you are predicting that Norv Turner will lead the Chargers to the Super Bowl in 2008? Now, is that the Super Bowl in February in Arizona? Or the following year?
Please advise.

The 2007 season will end with San Diego beating N.E. in a mix-up of coaching genius (Norv over BB? - yep, mark it down).
If I don't believe this (not naive enough to say Pittsburgh but that would obviously be ideal for me) then I simply can't enjoy most of the postseason as N.E. or Dallas winning it all is quite frankly unacceptable and unenjoyable. It would be like Notre Dame winning the Mythical National Championship. It ruins a perfectly fun season for me.

in the AFC Championship......I realize they can't play in the Super Bowl but since the AFC Championship is the actual end of the season anyway, it's all the same ....
