Still haven't pinned down a name on which additional personality will be joining Imus when he returns to the airwaves Dec. 3. But we now hear that he will be joined by a male and female African American in studio.
From what we're gathering, neither of the two is a particularly well-known personality, so at this point, don't expect a big-name radio type. That could change, of course, and we'll let you know as soon as we hear anything.
Nevertheless, we do find it interesting that Imus is clearly taking concrete steps in terms of the show's format to remake his image after his racist remarks about the Rutgers women's basketball team got him fired. That he's willing to put a male and female African American on the show tells us that he "gets it" and that the new format figures to be a lot more interesting - and challenging - than the old one.
Again, we'll let you know as soon as we hear any names, but for now, that's what we've got.
Neil Best has only a couple more days before he's back in the basement blogging away in his jammies, so he'll be back on the case, too.
Cheers. I have a Giants-Cowboys game to get ready for.

"a male and female African American" - that would be two people, right? Not a cross-dresser or a hermaphrodite?
Um ... yes, two different people. I will try and figure out a way to say this differently. What do you think Peyton the dog would say?
"Two people, male and female African Americans" maybe?
Peyton's busy doing what he can.
If Imus turns PC, his fans will desert him in droves.
This is one fan who will.
Have no concerns regarding Imus casting. Imus has a keen eye for talent, unconstrained by CBS and NBC suits show will only improve.
Citadel did not hire Imus to water down his performances. Imus was hired to do what he does best, produce revenue!!! . Bring on the talent, let the program evolve...
Hosanna Imus Returns D3C!!!

I read somewhere it was #2 African American females. We'll see.....but a male and female works even better..2 different perspecitives....
Heard about the report about two African American females, but our source confirmed yesterday is is a man and a woman, not two women.
Good reporting, Bob. A man and a woman certainly is more interesting. I honestly believe that Don Imus will begin to have some of the most thought provoking and honest discussions about race ever in broadcasting....I guarantee you he will enlighten and elevate the conversation regarding race and racisim.
