What with Neil Best being on vacation this week, we didn't want to leave you completely out in the cold if there was some news about Don Imus' impending return to the airwaves. So we've got a few nuggets to share with you.
Here goes:
* Engineer Lou Ruffino has yet to officially sign a contract to join the program, but he's expected to do so shortly. We heard that Ruffino was among those on a tour yesterday of Imus' new digs at WABC radio.
* Bernard McGuirk will be an on-air personality.
* Of course, Charles McCord is signed, sealed and delivered.
* We've also heard that there will be an interesting on-air hire that is sure to create a buzz, but we're not yet privy to the name. We might hear something more tomorrow.
For those of you new to this blog who somehow heard there was some Imus news, welcome aboard. We're mostly football around here, but we are big Neil Best fans, so we dabble in a variety of things. Check us out and feel free to come back if you like. Or else feel free to completely ignore us and count the days until Best is back on the clock.
Cheers.

So Whoopie Goldberg is Imus's new sidekick? :-)
(just kidding folks, just kidding)
My money's on Rosie...
Wait a minute. Neil is on "vacation" this week. Neil has always been the most in the know about Imus. Coincidence?
What are you suggesting NKR? That Neil is Imus? Or Glauber is Neil?
Tip o' the Cap to you Mr. Glauber. It appears you've scooped your ragmate. Hopefully this doesn't mean you will be resorting to the skimpiest of Imus news for the sole purpose of padding page view counts. And when Best returns, will you still be working to beat him to the Imus news? Finally, do you work out of your basement too?
I'm confused...was that a picture of Don Imus or Katherine Hepburn?
Why is Bob talking about Imus?
Imus USED to work on a Sportstalk station.
Imus has nothing to do with the NFL.
Imus is irrelevant....
Who cares if he hires a black on-air personality...if Imus had any stones at all he would hire Dog the Bounty Hunter.
Things I would listen to on the radio before Imus:
- Radio Disney
- Sunday morning evangelists
- Rick Wolff talking about harmful soccer dads
- Oldies
- Mega noventa y tres punto cinco
- Oprah
let's move on okay?
I am sorry HookSlide.
You are really in the dark. And your bulb has burned out. Not good! But good Luck
Mr. Glauber thank you for updating me on the situation with Imus. As you may have guessed there will be people who will not like you talking about Don Imus and gang. But I do. And so do the millions upon millions of Imus fans that don't take the time to speak.
The comment on Rosie. Well she is done on MSNBC and as far as her being with Imus. "What are you smoking?" Imus has no love for that fat woman. She will find her niche somewhere, just not right now.
Ruffino will go to the greatest station in New York and Bernie will speak. He will not take a job elsewhere as reported by someone else. He is not a host. He is an important sidekick. And you could call him a co-host like Charles.
Sports will remain with Warner Wolf as it should be. Imus loved the man. Though he is not one to be kicked around like Chris Carlin or Sid Rosenberg. Some charm lost there.
25 days and counting. We will see it all unfold.
Thangs again for the update. CBS must be really ticked off. Too bad. They have the picture of the "Big One" they let get away.
Hey Hookside, those are some great snooze choices. With your sense of humor, ie Don Imus or Katherine Hepburn, I think you might just have some fun with Imus. An open mind, when listening and just you wait! It'll be lol. Dog just isn't heady enough and black or no black, I think Imus will further the progression of equality. With a wee bit of restraint in the future, he is well aware of the problems and will make efforts to point out the necessity of our solidarity. Americans need to stick together and that means being able to poke fun and laugh together. Now, any other immigrants, need to have a heads up, because when you arrive on the shores, there will be jokes, you can be sure. So be ready to laugh and the next joke is yours, to make about anyone you choose!
thanks. you bet I'm going to check your blog for Imus news. Imus is not irrelevant to his fans. I believe it's his fans, through the marketplace, that has helped get him back on the air...and will help keep him on the air. As long as there is possible Imus news, I will read this blog with great anticipation. thanks for holding down the fort for Neil....
Thanks for the Imus update. We all sure do appreciate it. Don Imus is not irrelevent, far from it and his program has always been very sports oriented too - Hooks, you obviously never listened.
Bob,
People had to watch and listen to Imus, to get why the program drew their audience....this is a link with Chris Carlin of WFAN, where Lou currently works...when you listen you will hear Lou chiming in, and Bernie reminds Chris Carlin, in this clip or part two of this video clip, that he does the play by play for the NFL coverage, there is your connection. I was always pointing out to Neil, that I could work Imus into anything, he wanted to blog about, 6 degrees of separation concept.

Bob, Thanks for the Imus update, I'll check in on your blog again also!
Thanks!
Hook, that was a headfirster into home! LMAO!
Glauber, we're watching to see if you end up with the same addiction Best has to the Imus post and subsequent oddity that it is seeing Imus fans come out of the woodwork of the internet. You'd think you guys were compensated based upon page views (not a bad idea, huh Newsday?).
Thanks for the great info, Bob. Football is pretty irrelevant to me but information about Don Imus and his team is on the top of my interest list. Just like everyone else in the I-Nation, I am delighted to hear that Bernie will be back with us and probably Lou. I am ready for my world to get back in order and the political correctness squadrons to get out of my house!.
Now I know how Best must feel with his legion of Imus fans writing in, although this is small potatoes compared to his gargantuan scoops of the past.
Charlie C., yes, I am technically in my basement, but it is a walkout basement, so I'm not sure if that counts. We bought the house for this purpose so I would not be trapped in the basement a la Best. I believe he resides in the damp, musty, one casement window type basement, but I haven't been to his house in quite some time. I did play foosball there at a party he had. Neil throws a sensational party.
Bob, great great job. You and Neil are two most informed Imus reporters in country. Can't wait to hear who the new in studio guest is. Keep us posted along with Neil. You are da man
that's not kate hepburn. it's michelle akers!
so who is the new person gonna be. bob and neil, what say you?
