Colts-Patriots: the juicy subplot

As if Colts-Patriots needed any further spicing up, keep in mind these comments from Colts coach Tony Dungy when the Patriots were being investigated for illegally taping the Jets' defensive coaches' signals in Week 1:belichick.jpg

"You kind of feel like there is a code of honor, a code of ethics in the league," Dungy said. "You want to win and you want to do things the right way."

Dungy also suggested the Pats' behavior was akin to that of Barry Bonds, whose slugging accomplishments are tainted by suspicions of steroid use.

You think Belichick doesn't remember those comments? Trust me, if he gets a chance to rub Dungy's nose in it Sunday, he'll do it in a second. Especially after Dungy stood by those remarks this week.

"That was my opinion at the time and that's what I believe," Dungy said. "I don't think it takes away from anything they've done. It's just disappointing that it wasn't a good situation for the league ... I don't think it was an advantage, but it's just disappointing to me whenever anything comes out the public perception of the game gets hurt, whether it's us doing it or anybody else, and not because it was the Patriots doing it."

Whoa.

You almost have to wonder if Belicheck actually believes in his heart, that all NFL teams were doing this and only the Pats and he were singled out?

He's running up the score for the same reason a dog licks his balls. Because he can.

Wish I could get to Indianapolis for this one!

NKR, you and I both .. I'd even sit next to you during the game wearing a Payton Manning Jersey!

FWIW, I the question isn't about why Belicheat is running up the score.. it's about whether he has a persecution complex about the video taping scandal.

Having said that, I find it hard to argue with you about it, considering you're seriously kicking my butt with your picks!

Based on the nonsense in his personal life I think the guy has serious mental health problems.

Kind of ironic for Dungy to say this since according to Jimmy Johnson the "king" of sign stealing and the person who taught Johnson how to steal signs is currently on Dungy's staff.
