Here's the problem:
I just got an e-mail from my Newsday.com Internet guru, and he was gushing about our blog numbers from just yesterday alone. Huge day. Maybe the biggest one-day traffic in this blog's short history.
That's the good news.
The not-so-good news is that I know full well why the numbers were so good. Once the blog post about Michael Strahan admitting in his book that he checks out cheerleaders (see below) was linked onto BigBlueInteractive.com, a terrific Giants' fan website, I knew the numbers for our blog would jump.
How did I know? Because the headline indicated that Strahan looks at cheerleaders, and because I included a picture of a cheerleader - a fairly modest one, at that. Thus, the page-view parade started.
Now, why is all of this a problem? Well, if you've been following us, you know that we regularly chide Neil Best for posting pictures of pretty women on his blog in a shameless attempt to get page views. Neil's blog has done exceedingly well without the need for these pictures, but he did win a $50 prize from the Newsday muckety-mucks for his blog a couple months back.
The only way you win that prize - and we're hopeful of getting in on some of that cash and a mention in the company-wide memo - is to generate page views. Hey, I can write 5,000 words a week on this blog alone - which I do, in addition to the stuff for the newspaper - but even that can't generate the kind of hits that one picture of a beautiful cheerleader can.
So, gentle readers, you see my conundrum. Please advise in "comments" section below.
(btw, I admit I did include this picture to generate more page views, but only because it might attract some reader who has a practical suggestion. Perhaps Best can offer something. Maybe I can use his weak excuse that other blogs post far racier pictures.)

Write stuff about Imus and Suzyn as often as possible. That's my secret. Simple.
You're welcome.
