A lot has been made the last couple years about whether Packers quarterback Brett Favre might call it a career. But it was actually three years ago this month that the subject first came up.
Favre's wife, Deanna, had just been diagnosed with breast cancer, and Brett suggested it might be time to pack it in and just concentrate on getting her well. Had she said yes, there's a good chance he would have quit.
But she'd have none of it. As I wrote in a recent piece for the newspaper, Deanna refused to be the reason Brett would leave the NFL.
They never brought up the subject again.
Deanna is doing well in her recovery, and has written a book, "Don't Bet Against Me!" about her experiences with cancer, as well as being the wife of the most famous quarterback in the game.

As a football fan & Packers fan I can only say how thrilling it is to see Brett play the game every Sunday. I hope he plays for several more years!!
