Comment contest winners: Peter King reads our blog!

Craig on Marvin Lewis’ plight with the Bengals:

“He brought this on himself. Drafting as if character was detrimental, never taking the reins until the league started dropping the hammer. Funny thing about the championship Raven staff, the offensive genius has never been able to generate points, now the defensive wizard cannot keep them off the board. Looks like a good landing spot for Pacman and Rickey.”

NKR on her secret to successfully picking NFL games (she’s one of the leaders of the Beat Bob Glauber contest).

“OMG, I swear you do NOT want to know... At least you don't want me to post it in public. I could put all sports analysts out of business! LOL

(NKR: PLEEEEASSE post your secret. Better yet, just e-mail me and let me know.)

Peter King – yes, THE Peter King – on our woeful NFL picks from last week: “Bob,
Wow. Those picks are worse than mine. The seventeen year old at the local Montclair Starbucks picked twice as many games correctly this week than you did.”

(Peter, I’m touched you’d even care! Full disclosure: Peter and I started on the Giants’ beat in 1985, he for Newsday and I for the Gannett Westchester Newspapers. He is a fine man and does brilliant work on the NFL. His Monday Morning Quarterback on SI.com is not to be missed.)

We'll see how it works this weekend. If it's good, I'll e-mail you the system. Or maybe just a hint.

NKR:

Fair enough. Thanks for keeping me in mind. I hope your picks pan out, because logic is clearly not working in the NFL this season ... or any season, for that matter.
