We told you back in August that the NFL is cracking down on players who don't buckle their chinstraps, and the league is following through on that promise.
None other than Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, as well as Pats defensive tackle Vince Wilfork, have been caught by the uniform police for not buckling their chinstraps.
Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey is a guy who has regularly left his chinstraps unbuckled - and occasionally seen his helmet go flying - but we checked on him several times in Monday night's game against Atlanta, and he was always buckled up.
The idea of the rule is a good one. The NFL has found that players who don't always buckle up face a slightly increased injury risk. Makes sense to us. Good for the NFL on following through on a safety-related issue.
