Guess it shouldn't have been a surprise that there was one last twist to the Michael Strahan saga today.
A sizeable media contingent showed up late this morning to get Strahan's take on his lengthy holdout. Only one problem: Strahan wasn't there to tell his side.
Uh-oh.
Over the next four hours or so, the theory that immediately came to mind: Strahan was still ticked at the Giants for not renegotiating his contract, and he was showing his anger with one last work stoppage. The stakeout in the Giants' players parking lot commenced around 1 p.m. after a media session in the locker room, but Strahan didn't show at his usual spot. Instead, he walked in the team's management offices and had a brief talk with GM Jerry Reese and head coach Tom Coughlin.
About an hour before his appearance, we first got wind of the factoid that laid to rest any notion that Strahan's absence was a sign of anger. We'd been told that there was a procedural issue with the NFL Players Association about the reduction of Strahan's fine. The Giants didn't charge him the more than $500,000 he had accrued, but agreed on a reduced number - exactly how much isn't know at this point, but it's not chump change and is believed to be in the six figures.
As it turns out, the NFLPA had to record the agreement, only no one was in the union's offices because of the Labor Day holiday. Eventually, the Giants contacted the appropriate union official and took care of the paper work. Not long afterward, Strahan showed.
He'll practice tomorrow for the first time, and then presumably chat with reporters afterward. Should be interesting, no matter what he says.

prediction....this is the year strahan doesn't produce even when he's not injured
Nice explanation, glaubs. better than anything Strahan would have said.
My guess is Strahan gets a sack and a strained hammy in his first game and then is cut after his second game . . . which will be in Week 17.
Question: Have the Giants won anything with Strahan?
Another question: Has Strahan been on the field for just about every major Giants defensive collapse since he joined the NFL?
Faw Bills:
I'll pass along your thoughts to Mr. Strahan.
